Well, I know he does the full DS, but I don't want to go to another practice because it will screw my insurance and cost me a crapton of money. I just don't get why he is trying to push one over the other, when I have many reasons why i want the full DS, not the least of which is to avoid a second damn surgery.

Has anyone experienced a doctor that tried to push you in the direction of the sleeve over the full DS surgery? I received new paperwork for an appt that said I was being setup for the sleeve, so I anticipate having to meet with him and lay out why I want the full ds instead. Figured I would see if anyone else here has experienced this....

My surgeons office will actually be doing a urine test to make sure I am nicotine free before they perform my surgery. I am due for end of Sept, start of Oct, no solid date set yet

Thanks. This is my biggest concern because while I am getting the surgery mainly to get weight off the joint and hopefully lessen the pain, no matter what it will take some time and I don't know how well I could handle not being able to take anything OTC.

So, I am in the process of getting all of my appt.s done so I can get my DS surgery done around the end of Sept. The biggest question I have is this, what can you take for over the counter pain relief? I am getting DS done because I have a problem with arthritis in my hip, so I can get more weight off of it so I may have less pain and such until the time comes that I get a full hip replacement. I currently take meloxicam and advil for pain relief, the little it provides.
