I wanted to write about my experience with a lower bmi because while I am about 50 lbs overweight 182 5 ft 4 inches - I haven't seen too many posts that describe the surgery with this kind of weight loss. It took me a long time to decide to do this but I kept gaining and have a history of family members who get very very obese after their 40s. I am on the same track.
Anyway I am getting sleeve may 13. flyint to texas bc I actually have a friend who is a surgeon that does this. I feel good about that and I am staying with another friend.
I have 10 days and started the first day of a soft diet which is various soft Proteins, shakes, cottage cheese, eggs. I was basically good but ate too much. My goal today was just to get used to no carbs. I have had a splitting headache from giving up the caffiene but I am taking liquid tylenol and that helps a bit.
I was nervous about this but feeling better about it now and committed to doing this. Ill write about my experience so someone else in the future can decide if this makes sense for them. Ever since I decided to do this surgery I felt like I had control over my body for the first time in a long time. I also had smoked which I stopped. And started drinking tons of Water. Never could do that before.
So the surgery has instigated a number of great behaviors. all good. And this forum is key because people are so supportive. I really appreciate it.

My surgeon explained that during the surgery, the Vagus Nerve is cut and that's what causes the runny noses response when the pouch is full. Kind of interesting and tons of stuff on the interwebs about it.

Its water - Do not weigh yourself every day - you will end up in a rubber room - Set a goal for the week.
The damm head games are the worse part of this surgery - You got this

Last yr I bought a shirt from Target. It was an XL in women's. All women know how much it can suck to buy womens clothing. 9 times out of 10 a XL in one brand can be a M in another. This is why I generally just buy men's t-shirts. Though I know I wear an XL in Old Navy's women's shirts. That being said, I bought this shirt and when I got home it was about 3 sizes too small. I sadly shoved it in a drawer and forgot about it. I'm almost a mth out from my revision. My GERD is completely gone and the weightloss is a huge bonus. I found the shirt today and put it on. And it fit!

Congrats! Ok, here's your advice from me. Work your program. Follow your doctor's plan to a T. Don't wing it. Don't morph it to "suit you." Don't diverge. Maintain laser focus and follow the rules including his instructs for exercise. And you will not recognize yourself in 6 months! WTG girl!!

I stop before I feel full because the sensation of full is different now and I don't want to stretch out my pouch. Here is my portion control guidelines. Hope this helps ?

I’m really grateful for having found this group & all of you. You’re all mostly positive, encouraging & joyful. I belong to a few FB groups and Lordy.... some people are so darn judgmental. This weight loss surgery business is very serious & very real & I’m here because I’ve been beaten down physically, emotionally & mentally I certainly don’t need a bunch of shaming from others . I used to belong to WW “connect” app & they were all super positive & informative & encouraging as well. So ty so much everyone for being a supportive bunch. Unlike WW ... I’ve been unsuccessful in finding a face to face support group for WLS peeps. The one my hospital offers doesn’t even slightly cut it. Personally .... I do so much better in my life when I’m surrounded by like minded people that have similar goals & are striving to live their best lives. The surgical team at my hospital have encouraged me, when I’m ready, to help them with their group or start a new one. They’ll support it with the nutritionist, surgeon etc. In time.
But today... I have all of you & I’m super grateful for that. The wealth of info that you provide, the positive feedback & sharing your experience, strength & hope is invaluable. ❤️

Yes, it's very common. It will pass! Do mindful things for yourself to help get through it!
    1. Sunlight every day--exercise/walk outside if you can and also supp Vitamin D and Vit C.
    2. EXERCISE hard every day--walk fast if that's all you got.
    3. Eat healthy! Maintain good control over what goes down your piehole and cut out any crap if you're eating it. IT helps you feel successful.
    4. Watch comedies. Laugh a lot.
    5. Deep breathe--especially when you're in the middle of an episode of sadness. Google Four Square Breathing.
    6. Develop a network of friends and likeminded people.
    7. Get a creative outlet, even if it's coloring on your mobile phone!
    8. Get enough sleep! Work on developing good sleep hygiene so you really get deep sleep.
    9. Focus on happy thoughts, on the future, on victory.
    10. Stand in front of your mirror in a super hero pose for 60 seconds each day and imagine yourself winning the day and being happy.
