Dirigo, I just know in my heart that your daughter is going to do great. She has youth on her side and parents looking out for her. And she will get the jump on all of us with her weight loss!!! When able, I hope you will send out an update on how she does tomorrow. Just tell her she has prayers coming in from across the country for her.

Dirigo, I've heard of families that do everything together but yours takes it to a whole new level. You will certainly understand what the other is going through and will be able to encourage one another. I wish all of you the very best.

Bridgette, I'm a Hokie fan myself. My son graduated from VA Tech. I'm having surgery at the Martha Jefferson Hospital. They have a brand new Bariatric Center and head physician Dr. Michael Trahan came to Va from Texas with several years of experience with lap band and gastric bypass. I work for the UVA hospital, but my private physician is with MJH and he referred me to Dr. Trahan. Although I probably would have been approved a lot quicker at UVA.

Hi everyone, I'm excited to be a part of the October group. I had been so upset about being denied in June. I had to go through the appeal process. I like the name "Smashing Pumpkins." My doctor only requied me to take off 15 lbs prior to surgery to shrink my liver. I don't have to do the liquid thing.

After being denied in June, I have finally been approved for surgery on Oct. 7. I first started thinking about this surgery last summer and began the actual process in April of this year. It has been a long road but worth it.:crying:

I finalllllllllly got approved. My surgery is Oct. 7.

I will give the appeal a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was denied by my insurance, Southern Health. They said I have to start my 3 month diet over again. I lost 15 lbs the first time, but they said the documentation provided by the doctor was not thorough. They also felt that my diet wasn't strick enough and I didn't exercise enough. I am so sad. :crying:

I hope all of our July 1 banders are out of surgery and on the way to a new and exciting thinner life. We are all praying for you.

Tillydog: Congrats on your surgery date. That is wonderful. Would it be possible for you to stay in a motel/hotel overnight? You would probably feel better the next day for a long ride. :teeth_smile:
