removal of band due to reflux

the problem is that the meds only relive the symptoms. your esophogus is still working over time, which can cause problems over time. youre probrably like me, and your esophogus does not like the band sitting on it. we had no way of knowing before.

  8. Hello, I was banded may 22nd 2008, and im looking for a mentor, someone i can personally talk to thats living proof i can "get there" too. i was approx. 325lbs, and have currently lost approx. 56lbs. and i always question if its enough. i have a hard time being able to imagine ever being a "normal" size/weight again, even tho im losing. i had a very hard time getting rid of my clothes, but i did it, but i couldnt see they were too big, my husband had to convince me of it. im a very fashion oriented person....hair,make up, clothes, accessories, i love it all, so it was hard to say good by to my clothes. i have a lot of questions..... im struggling.....please help me if you can....
  9. WOW.....congrats Michelle!!!!! thank you so much for responding. thats so unbelieveable to me, and you totally inspire me. i want to get there soooo bad...just cant imagine it yet. do you have any tips for me? what did you eat? did/do you exercise alot? do you have any excess skin problems?(that scares me) thanks for your support.

hi janet, do you have any hanging skin from the weightloss?
  12. Im really struggling with getting rid of my clothes, and no one understands. I realize its important to get rid of them so you dont have them in the back of your mind, and get to that size again...i get that. ive always been a very fashion cautious person, no matter my size..i have/had a huge wardrobe, and always enjoyed geting dressed, doing my hair/make up, and accessorizing. I feel like im giving away a piece of myself. ive successfully shrunk a few things in washer/dryer, so that helped me to hold on to a few items. but everyone says how happy i should be cause i get to buy new clothes, but im not going to for awhile because my size changes too quickly right now.dont get me wrong, im thrilled im losing!!!!! this is just a tough thing for me, and i feel like no one understands me.

Please help...very hungry, and 1st fill is 2 weeks away!

the slim fast is high protein, and my dr wants me to have one a day, and im not much of a breakfast person, so i just drink it then. i also told him about what i eat daily including the lc's, and he didnt say anything.(i still have to keep a food journal) he also told me im allowed to have soda, as long as it doesnt give me any discomfort. im so confused... another question...how come you cant drink with meals? i dont drink alot, but i may have a sip or 2...what can this do?
  14. hello, i was banded may 22, and i was feeling full much quicker for the 1st few weeks, and now i can eat alot more, and im frustrated. i dont get full as easily, and i dont stay full as long. my 1st fill is july 8th, i dont know what to expect, and im wondering if anyone has any tips for me to make it til then? i already called my surgeon to get in earlier, but hes booked solid. im afraid ill gain back the weight i lost because i can eat more. and im also wondering...what does everyone eat all day? i have a slim fast for breakfast, piece of fruit for a snack, a lean cuisine for lunch, 100 cal snack pack for snack, then a meat and veg for dinner, and sf jello or sf pudding for dessert. it seems like so much to me. i know i have alot of questions, but any feedback would help alot. thanks.

    Vitamin Question

hello, im getting the band on may 22nd, and i started liquids today! i have to be on liquids 8 days prior, but they never said why? other people ive talked to only had to do it for 3 days. anyway...reason for the post... i have a vitiamin question for everyone...how many flintstones Vitamins do we have to take, how many miligrams of Iron, and Calcium supplements do we need, and what kind of alternatives are out there for us banders?. my book is confusing as it almost always refers to the gastric bypass patient instructions. ive emailed/called my dietician, but havent her back from her, so i thought this was the next best thing to her! but i need to go shopping for this stuff asap...im teriified my hair will fall out! thanks in advance!
