Newbeginning57 got a reaction from Alwzla8 in April 2019 Surgeries!I am starting the puréed stage and it is not going great. My stomach really churns and gas or air seems to double up. I am trying smaller bites and thinning it a bit more. Hopefully this will help. I am down 24.4 lbs since I started the process and that is pretty amazing for me. -

Newbeginning57 reacted to ejmom86 in April 2019 Surgeries!Hey everyone, thought I would check in. Had my RNY at Toronto Western hospital on April 8th, was released the next day. I seem to be doing pretty well. I'm tolerating most liquids. I've been pretty much sticking to protein smoothies, smooth cream soups, premier protein, V8, no sugar added pudding/jello/icecream. I sometimes change up the fruit or the soup but at this point I just want to get past the liquids and start to incorporate more variety so I am keeping it simple until then. On Thursday I should be able to start pureed stage for two weeks then soft foods. I don't have any pain from my surgery. I get some discomfort if I am overdoing it a little and have to go rest. It takes me all day but I end up getting about 4 cups of liquids and 80-85g protein at this point. I've been taking an electrolyte supplement as my urine is still a bit dark and I think that helps. My steri strips haven't fallen off yet. I'm getting all my vitamins in as well and doing some light walking everyday. My weight stalled a week after surgery but it seems to be moving again now. From my pre-op diet until now I've lost 25lbs in about 3-4 weeks.

Newbeginning57 got a reaction from LabGoddess in April 2019 Surgeries!I am post op 3 days and so far not too bad. Gas is an issue for sure and I had a hernia that was fixed at the same time. I am on mushy liquid type foods but so far keeping it down. Feel a little stronger today. -

Newbeginning57 reacted to MoBariatric in April 2019 Surgeries!Good morning beautiful people!!
I had my surgery 11 April Lap Band
Before: 3 weeks of liquids for preop and lots of anxiety!
Disclaimer, what is for my body may not be for your body...
Before surgery, I talk to so many professionals; anesthesiologists, doctor, family, nurses I didn't remember much! Lol... So just I prayed
After: the surgery was a success! I stayed overnight. The good: it was the best idea to stay overnight, the nurses help with the medicine Doses and getting used to walking breathing through and using the restroom. (Little things)
The bad & ugly: The anesthesia side effects-the gas is so uncomfortable (dont force it to pass, it hurts more). Incision pain only when things are on placed on them like pants or when its accidentally bumped.
Ladies, because of the locations of the incisions think about sports bras. I wear wire bras most of the time and they were on my incisions-painful... Here I am, 1 week post op and am finally able to wear a real bra.
Tips:
Take your time, LOVE yourself-speak your success in existence!
Stay hydrated!!
Walk!
Have a plan, for phase1, 2, 3 and beyond.
If you have any specific questions please let me know!
Blessings and you will succeed!!

Newbeginning57 reacted to Sberryblond in April 2019 Surgeries!I just got my sleeve Mon, Apr 15 and came home yesterday. Things have gone really well! I’m working on my fluid intake with my tracker sheet. My pain has been minimal, as has been my nausea. I’m mostly just tired, which is totally expected. I got my laps in at the hospital with no problems, and am making sure I get up at least once an hour during awake hours to keep blood circulating. My biggest struggle has been doing the spirometer as often as I should have in the hospital and I can tell. -
Newbeginning57 got a reaction from KimB7811 in April 2019 Surgeries!I get my sleeve on April 15th. The three weeks went by really quickly and I lost 17.2 lbs on the shakes. I am nervous by excited at the same time. It has really helped me being a part of this group. I have learnt so much from all of you. I will let you know how it went soon -

Newbeginning57 reacted to PurpleBloom in April 2019 Surgeries!Hi everyone!
I'm so sorry I'm late to the discussion. I've wanted to join you here since February but my dietician discouraged me and I listened to her. I really regret it now. It's so hard to find people in "real life" that understand what's about to happen. Even those who I thought were "getting it" are proving to be a disappointment. I was talking to a good friend today about how hard the first few days of the liquid diet has been and she said "oh yeah, I know, just like stopping alcohol." Well, I've never done that, but I don't think so. Alcohol isn't necessary to maintain life; food is.
Anyhow, I wish everyone here wellness and courage!
My surgery is April 9th. From what I can tell that makes me #6? I'm nervous, scared, wondering if I'm doing the right thing. My main goal is not weight loss but putting diabetes into remission and my surgeon assures me that based on what has happened during my preop period I will leave the hospital on no diabetes meds!! (During the time between my first visit with him and last visit 5 months later, I worked really hard, got my eating disorder into remission, started eating intuitively, started exercising regularly, lost 30 pounds and cut my insulin need in half. A primary care doc asked me if I wouldn't like to keep on that path for a while before going for surgery but I said no, I don't think weight loss alone offers very good odds at ditching diabetes.)
I've struggled pretty intensely with this liquid diet at times. I have a personality that wants to know all the whys (beyond just shrinking the liver and getting used to eating less) and I feel like my dietician has been a bit less than forthcoming. I finally got her to explain that it puts us into ketosis and now that I've done some reading about ketosis and understand that my body and brain aren't being STARVED, I'm feeling less anxious and better able to tolerate the discomfort.
Again, I'm so sorry to arrive late.
Oh, and to answer the questions, I think they show up on the sidebar (I'm new to the forum stuff), except that I don't know a goal weight, isn't that nuts? No one ever discussed it and I didn't think to ask.

Newbeginning57 reacted to crigney21 in April 2019 Surgeries!I just got the email from my hospital that my surgery check-in is Monday at 5:30 AM. I have such a crazy mix of emotions. I'm nervous, sad, excited, nervous again, and a little panicked (is that the same thing as nervous). I've been working toward this for the last year and I know I want it, I know I need it, but that doesn't seem to calm the butterflies in my stomach.
Any words of encouragement or stories about your improved life quality would be AMAZING right now.

Newbeginning57 reacted to Marc M. in April 2019 Surgeries!Whoa, I am feeling it today. This is the fourth day of the pre-op liquid diet, and it is hitting me today like a ton of bricks.
On the plus side, my morning weight this AM was 340.2 (my pre-diet weight fluctuated from 345 - 352, which was a 25+ drop from my peak weight of 376).
