People around you must be too shy?! You look amazing and definitely/obviously smaller! I run into folks on campus (hospital) and am asked all the time if I’m ok & followed up with you’re losing weight so hence not being to upset about darn scale progress. You’re (even hotter) Hottie in the making👍🏽

Gotta and Sheribear, sleeve siblings, we are so much alike! I get compliments about losing weight BUT I only lose a pound a week if I’m lucky (since week 4)? The scale not my friend but I’ll use measuring tape instead. Keep it up. You’re an inspiration.

Yes, Korean bbq😋. Had a lunch group meeting at a sushi house that offered bento boxes and it was the softest meat option and without having to explain why not eating sushi since many knew I cut out rice from my meals (packed most of it to go for husband to enjoy). Cravings are insane but spot on about it being mainly mental. Had a craving for frozen yogurt and after a couple tablespoons, lost interest. Bummer yet a win?! Wont complain.

Haven’t tried sugar-free candies but my NUT has supported sugar-free snacks after daily protein goal achieved so why not sugar free candy is my thought? With allergy season here, I’ve had 2-3 cough/throat drops daily the past few days and likely will continue over next few more days.

Hahaha. I know exactly what you mean! Haven’t had steak per say...Does bulgogi count? I had some. It was very tender but still required decent amount of chewing.

Thank you!!! Stuck is the right way to describe my evening full of abdominal cramping. Yes, stuck. I really really hope postop 3 months that my tummy is stronger.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I’d hate to be too specific but the southern dumping for me was painful stomach cramping that is very similar to when you have a stomach bug/really have to go but are stuck in traffic kind of misery. I was sweating bullets, in tears at some points and needed to stay near my bathroom to on safe side rest of the evening. Since surgery, I’ve only experience vomiting dumping once after eating baked mahi mahi tuna. I barely could vomit and there was dry heaving but I’d take that over the other end any day. Forgive me Feb buddies if my description is too graphic. I’m really worried I won’t be able to enjoy my favorites (Alaska raised) like halibut or copper river red salmon😩.....too afraid to even try any fish at this point and now I’m going to add salad to the “forbidden” list. At least until 3 full months postop.

Some but I don’t think more than 2-3 grams since it was a small amount of salad and even less dressing needed. I am supposed to stick a soft diet so I just assumed it was the salad. Nothing else out of daily norm-2 protein shakes and chicken but yesterday chicken was in my salad. Like Sheri, the scale doesn’t move for me much but I’m glad my clothes are looser or I’d be depressed. Hit my minimum 10K steps goal well enough too. Dora/Ellen’s ‘Just keep swimming’ chants all day long.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Had a really bad first experience of dumping. Now I totally get the comments that it feels like dying. I may not have read far back enough for similar triggers but I’m pretty sure it was because I ate about a cup and half of salad (split into two meals, 2/3 for lunch and 2/3 for dinner) since I didn't eat anything too sugary or high in fat? The dressing was a vinaigrette? When will salad be ok if ever? This is postop week 6 plus 3 days.

You and I are on the boat! I’ve been the same weight up and down within the same pound for 3 weeks. Finally today I weighed a pound less (since week 3!) but my progress has been noticeable in measurements so I won’t complain too much. I hope I make onederland by my birthday next mid-month. 12.5 pounds to go.....

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

Don’t let fear stop you from achieving a goal I can’t speak to the neuro medications but since my sleeve, I’ve rarely needed to take my prescribed meds. Only 1 which I will do daily in the AM is for postop stomach health. .

Absolutely! I do my best not to snap back but when I’m being offered something and I politley decline but they persist, I often picture in my mind throwing the offer onto the ground and stomping on it until its pulverized. The image is statisfying. Goodness, the cruise did a number on me. Need to meditate.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I spent my entire week 3 post-op on a family reunion, planned since 2017, cruise and boy oh boy was I challenged. Food everywhere with 24/7 availability even room service. I’ve read alot of your posts about making proper food choices and the struggles with knowing when full which really helped me get through last week. My husband was supportive to help me keep up the charade (none of other family members know) by putting food he’d eat onto my plate while I kept to mainly my soft protein based options. He was sneaky and ate from my plate as well (grateful he’s got a high metabolism and works out daily). Thank you everyone for sharing your stories! I feel guilty for only losing 1 lb in week 3 even though was very conscientious about my food portion but know I should not have taken a bite of dessert every evening just to look “normal”. Tomorrow is week 4 anniversary from 2/18 sleeve. I hope to be better off than this past week.

Marine, I found that standing helped when I felt abdominal pressure or ‘pull’. Also, easy does it on any weighted lifting and twisting motions. Although I managed returning to work last Monday, I wished I’d taken whole two weeks to recoop.

Thank you gabybab! I am relieved. For a minute I thought I’d already began to fail in under two weeks.

Op date 2/18. Anyone else feeling concerned they’re able consume more than a sleeved stomach ought to hold? I was able to finish a cup of broth in 20 minutes, I was enjoying it so much to realize how quickly it disappeared. How long postop have others experienced more thab 2 oz every 15 minutes been was no longer uncomfortable?

My Dr said before surgery, he might take biopsies (liver for example) if they thought needed but in recovery he informed me everything looked perfect.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I returned to work yesterday. I just had my sleeve last Monday (my Dr would be livid but he didn’t specifically instruct me of how much time to take off). It was seriously a rough day but today, a little better. Sticking to my meal plan was far more harder being at work than I anticipated. I mentally give myself a pep talk to stay the course even though anything more than a few gulps would be painful. Any suggestions/tricks for those of you further postop with ‘keeping it real’ and keeping on track?

Oh that sounds so good! Definitely going to try at my post my 3 weeks clearance. My Dr’s plan has me on liquid focus until then. I envy your meal plan🤭. Thanks for sharing....I cant wait for real flavor.

8 days post op, protein intake?

I’m only 5 days post op and I’ve been able to get my protein in by mixing it with Lactaid or blending some protein with ice for a frosty like treat (a table spoonful at a time I make a small amount throughout day). Drinking straight somehow became a challenge postop?

Agree! Chicken or beef broth have made post-op dining lately so much more bearable. I still aim for protein goals first and foremost but once I’ve taken in at least 40grams I dont feel too guilty sipping a little broth come dinner time.
