  1. Hi welcome to the club, I think if your not nervous before a surgery something is wrong with you! I am being banded in 10 days! I am so excited and nervous. Good luck to you. I have also found reading all these posts has been so helpful!! It's nice to be part of a club where everyone understands you.......
  2. Welcome to the nightmare world of health care coverage in the United States!!!!! I ran a doc's office for 6 years dealing with them everyday and they has 2 purposes in life the first is to collect your monthly billing the second is to try and avoid paying for any medical needs you have!!!! I am a cash pay too since Blue Cross denied me. I am being banded on May 13th at Journey Lite in Thousand Oaks, CA by Dr Billy (who is a sweetheart). I am paying $14,500 and one thousand of that is fills and follow-up for life so worth it! My insurance did pay for all my pre-op testing. I just submitted the bills to them and they didn't question them. SURPRISE! I would ask your doctor what is included post-op should things go wrong for your own peace of mind! Good Luck! Stay Strong and committed.
  3. Welcome to the May Flowers! My date is set for May 13th. I am a self pay $14,500 which includes follow-up and fills for life. All tests are done, did my pre-op blood tests Tuesday and all that's left is my pre-op visit with the surgeon which I am about to call and set-up. I also start my chewable vitamins today and my low carb high/protein diet. I am excited and scared at the same time! Can I curb my appetite? Can I eat healthy? Will I use this very expensive tool to its fullest advantage.........the same fears I am sure everyone of us going in for this has. My saving grace is my friend had her band last week so I call her everyday (we live across the country from each other) and she is so happy and has lost 20lbs combined with her pre-op diet. Her only complaint is shoulder pain that is still lingering. GOOD LUCK
  4. add me may 13th!!!!
  5. So how did you manage the 14lb loss so far?
  6. I am so excited for all of us May Banders!!!!! I am fortunate enough to be using a doctor that does not require the pre-surgery liquid diet just low carb/high protein. If I could do the liquid diet without the band chances would be that I wouldn't be doing the surgery.
  7. Thanks Lenore will give it a try later!
  8. I was so glad to see this post. I was going to call my doctor today and yell at him because the only pre-op "diet" they put me on is start my chewable vitamins and try to eat a low carb hi protein diet the 2 weeks before my surgery so that begins today for me. I am also supposed to start not drinking with meals and chewing more. I have a BMI 0f 37. Now I feel better seeing he is not the only Dr. not having his patients doing liquids.
  9. I am having the band May 13th and my starting weight is 195. I have sleep apnea and am praying it helps.
  10. Hi Jacob nice to meet you! How is the process going for you? I get banded on May 13th in Los Angeles. All the best to your wife! Oh and I am a computer idiot and I have no idea how these creative people put all these wonderful images in their messages LOL
  11. I'm on the books for May 13th..YEAH!!!!!!:coolgleamA:
  12. Hi Everyone just stumbled onto this site and was so happy to have people to share with! I am 49 years old and my surgery date is May 13th. I am having my surgery at Journey Lite in Thousand Oaks CA with Dr Helmuth Billy. I am paying cash for my surgery because Blue Cross didn't consider my sleep apnea, high blood pressure or degenerative back disease sever enough to warrant surgery. I am looking forward to my surgery and just a bit nervous. My dear friend just had her lap band last week so I am getting daily updates from her so that is a help! I look forward to reading all of your success stories.
