    help me quick

Oh honey...stop the presses! I prefer EAS, Muscle Milk, or Atkins. They all are low sugar, high protein. My nutritionist told me they should have at least 15 grams of protein. The protein I ordered (under her recommendation) was horrible and it left the most painful gas on my stomach. Besides, the ones I mentioned above are ready-to-drink.

could the band just not be working anymore?

I had the exact same problem. I lost 18 pounds immediately after surgery. I thought "finally" something that works...and then BAM! the honeymoon was over (have only lost 4 more pounds in 2 months). Currenlty I am 5 months post op and had my 4th fill today. My surgeon did it under fluoro too. Everything was where it should be. I asked him the very same questions you have and he told me that it takes time. Everyone is different. Some people hit their sweet spots in 4 fills, some in 8. He is a slow filler too. My first fill was 2 ccs and have received only 0.5 ccs since. Today he gave me a little more than 0.5 (just over 3.5ccs/ 10cc) and I could have kissed him! I tell him every time I go in there that I feel no restriction and every time he tells me to be patient. Now I am extended that advice to you. It's not bypass, this is a slower process. Just be patient. The weight will come off.
  3. I'm sorry to hear that! I had my gall bladder removed in November of last year and experienced a similar reaction coming out. So when I went in for my band I made sure to tell the anesthesiologist that whatever cocktail they were giving me to put a double shot of anti nausea meds in it. They even gave me a seasick patch beforehand. In fact, my lapbad surgery was a heck of a lot easier to recover from. I had surgery on a Monday and I was working, albeit from home, on Wednesday. Has the vomiting/heaving caused any band slippage?
  4. I had the Lapband procedure done with Atlanta Bariatrics, specifically Dr. Johnson. There is a Dr. Hart with the practice, but I am not sure if it is the same one. He performed my aunt's bypass 6 years ago. The practice is wonderful and the staff is super friendly. I live about 50 miles from the office and gladly drive it, even through rush hour! They may not be able to do it in the time frame you need, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to place a phone call and talk to them. I wish you the best of luck!!!!!! PS...If the surgeon wants you to lose weight prior to surgery, it is to avoid complications during the procedure. My ex-brother-in-law experienced the same thing. I believe it had to do with the anesthesia and the strain on the heart.
  5. Hey All! 1. I went in for my 4th fill yesterday and thought I was going to pass out. Fills 2 and 3 were quick and easy. Yesterday, my surgeon could not get the needle to pierce the port. I made him stop and try again from a different angle, so to speak. He still could not get it. At this point, I am woozy, clammy, and shaky. Normally I can grin and bear it, but the pain was unusually intense this time. I finally told him to stop and that I would come back another day. It was horrible. Now he wants to do the fill at the hospital under the flouroscope. Has anyone had a fill experience like this? Any advice would be great! 2. Also, one odd quirk I am experiencing. When I eat at home, I have absolutely no restriction...none at all. But when I go out with my family, I take 2 or 3 bites and I'm done. I am eating the same types of food... grilled chicken or salmon...especially salmon. 3. I am at 3cc's in a 10cc band with little to no restriction. How many fills or how many cc's until you reach your "sweet spot"? Thank you in advance for all your advice!

Port very noticable and sticks up

I didn't think my port would be that noticable... but it is. I was banded on 4/21 and I am down 25 pounds. I can feel it when I bend over, especially if I am exercising. It usually sore when I wake up in the mornings too. My first fill is June 11, and I plan to ask my surgeon about it.
  7. Hi! My name is Amy. I am also a patient of Dr Johnson! He is wonderful and not too bad to look at! I also have Federal BCBS and they approved my surgery in 1 week! I was banded on 4/21 and have not regretted it. The only thing I am scared to death on is the first fill. I watched a couple of youtube videos and it does not look like a pleasant experience. When are you having your procedure? If you are having it at Emory John's Creek...there is not an ugly doc in that place!!!!!!! Good Luck and Take Care!!!!!!

    Doctors Around Atlanta Ga

Hi Don! Like CPSimonton... I went to Atlanta Bariatrics and Dr Johnson was my surgeon. I am not sure of the self pay cost, my insurance covered my procedure. However, if you talk to Susie in the office, she can give you the information you are looking for! www.atlantabariatrics.com
  9. Hello All! I was banded on 4/21 by Dr Johnson and already down 18 pounds :wink2:! I am so excited! Is anyone here from the ATL?
  10. Hello All! I need some help! I was banded on 4/21 and have dropped close to 20 pounds (with the help of my son's nasty stomach bug). To my horror, I got on the scale this morning and had gained 3 pounds! I am currently at the mushie stage and I'm eating what I was told and in the amounts I was told, so I don't understand the weight gain. Has anyone else experienced weight gain in the beginning stages?

    Doctors Around Atlanta Ga

My aunt and I both went to Atlanta Bariatrics. Dr. Hart performed her bypass 6 years ago and Dr Johnson did my lapband on 4/21. Both of us are very happy. I live in Douglasville and happily drove the 52 miles to his office for every appt...he's that good!

    Anyone in Atlanta?

Feeling great today! Its my first day back at work...and now getting a bit tired. Is your insurance co requiring a lot of hoop jumping?
  13. Congrats! Mine went pretty quick too! I was banded on 4/21 and I am pain free. The second day is usually the toughest. If you have had surgery before, you know to keep moving. It will get the soreness out and relieve the gas buildup...and believe me...it will build up.
  14. I was banded on 4/21 and have been going from sweating to freezing ever since! Last night I woke up at 4 AM with a soaking wet pillow and pajamas! I have never experienced anything like this pre op. Is anyone else have this same experience?
