  1. I guess I will find out how he does the fills when I get my first one. It's not for a month yet. Gonna be a long wait! I get solids one week from today so that is going to help a lot. Today is my 2 week bandversary! I get solids at 3 weeks. EGADS, I just got a lunch invite for today at Applebees! I seem to do okay at these outings if I get soup so will stick with that plan! Funny, I never do much socially and it seems during my 'mushie' stage everything comes at once!
  2. Drats had a long post and poof it the screen changed and it vanished. Thanks for asking about dinner. It went real well. I got my egg drop soup and she did ask a few times if that was all I was eating and so I eventually fessed up. I'm glad I did as she was very supportive and had 2 family members out of state who had it done. One lost over 200 lbs. A few hours later when I got home I had some s/f pudding for 'dessert'. I am getting frustrated though with the scale. It was going down so fast but now has seemed to stop for the past week or so. I feel I am barely eating a thing never more than 4 oz at a time how could it not? This too shall pass I suppose. Question, if some days the band is tighter than others and you feel less hungry, what happens after you get a fill?
  3. Maria, Do you have a white tongue? That thrush was the weirdest stuff, my mouth felt so funny. The nurse told me it was quite common but it something I rarely read about here on the boards. I'm glad they told me about it at my pre op or I'd never have guessed I had it. Good luck to you!
  4. I only had to do the liquid diet for the day before too. I did fine. I was glad as I had a week of liquids after. Now I'm on the soft foods. Good luck to you!
  5. I don't even know what size band I have. Didn't even realize there were different sizes til all the talk here about band sizes and cc's. I guess I like Janet's line of thinking, 'as long as it work'. Today was my first day experiencing hunger, I am 2 weeks post op. So guess I have 4 weeks til my fill so could be entering 'bandster hell'. howver, the strange thing is today, is I have to force myself to eat every 3 hours or so. I just had tuna and could only eat an ounce. Is it usual to feel differing degrees of hunger like that? Tonight is a challenge. We are going to dinner with friends, who know nothing of my surgery. We are going to Chinese, so I just plan on some egg drop soup but am sure I'll probably get some questions as to why that's all I'm having (I'm still on soft foods). Maybe I'll tell them, she's a good friend, I'm just not sure I want the world to know and if she'll keep quiet. LOL
  6. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks for me. I can't believe what a difference 2 weeks makes, though I still have the huge bruise on my arm from my pre op blood work 2 weeks ago. LOL I feel back to normal now, not quite so tired. Yesterday was my first day experiencing hunger and wanting foods I couldn't. I really wanted a french fry! But weird today, I am so not hungry and am having to remember to eat a little something every 3 hours. I'm finding everyone's preop diets interesting. There's so much different info out there from all the different docs. For example I'm reading alot about oatmeal, mashed potatoes, etc. on mushies, and all my mushies have to be protein. I'm still weighing myself every day and should stop, it was so fun seeing the scale go down every day but it's been 3 days and no movement now. I'm off my b/p meds and b/p is still good and that's been a week already. My tongue is no longer white (had oral yeast infection) so I'm on the road to a new healthier me. Oh my tummy itches like crazy around the incisions and the glue is looking real greyish and hopefully is getting ready to come off.
  7. Just popping in to say hi. I've been busy with out of town company but still doing great. I think I had my first experience with 'head hunger' on FAthers Day. We took DH out to his favorite Mexican place, I knew I'd be okay on mushies by ordering an order of beans. Well those chips. OMG!! they looked so good. I knew they were a big no no and didn't even try a crumb, but it was the first time I've wanted something when I saw it vs what I was eating. Janet, I posted on the mentor thread, but wanted to say here as well how great you look in your photos!! Jazzy Junes, hi there! I do plan on making this my new addiction instead of food too!
  8. I had a great NSV yesterday, went shopping, went into a normal store, GAP, and bought a T shirt a size XL but still it was a normal store!! I bought it thinking it would fit down the road and it was incentive, I've not bought something in a NORMAL store in years!! I tried it on at home and IT FIT!!!!!!!!!!! I think it's snug but my daughter, husband and friend all say no that's the way it's supposed to fit. I'm so stoked, now I want to go back and get one in every color!!!
  9. The photos look great Janet!! I can't wait til I have some like that!! Cathy, I'm eating lots of refried beans and a tad of cheese these days on mushies. Also some scrambled eggs and soups.
  10. How are you doing with the gum? They told me no gum as it gave you more gas, said you swallowed too much air. But it sounds good to get some of the yucky taste from my mouth.
  11. While I realize many docs have different recommedations for diet, I wouldn't be allowed the cracker or anything like it for some time yet. HOpe you find something that works for your craving though.
  12. Hi June 5th mates, I've been doing great. Haven't had any issues with food yet. Though last night I think I had my first case of 'head hunger'. We went to my husbands favorite mexican restaurant for Father's Day. And those chips looked so good and tempting. It was the first time I wanted food that I couldn't have. I ordered me a side of refried beans and was fine with them but oh those chips! I'm off my b/p meds already so that is cool. My incisions itche some so guess that's a good sign they are healing. I'm still tired a lot. The hardest part is getting in all the liquids and protein. I'm not to eat more than 4 oz at a time and allow the pouch to rest 3 hours, well that's hard to get in the required amounts then.
  13. I only had to follow a liquid diet 2 days pre op, then 5 days of liquids post op, then soft foods. I lost 10 lbs. the week before my sugery and 13 since then, and a total of 33 (10 on my own while researching surgery). I do have a prefill because the large band was too big and the smaller band too small. So he used the large with some prefill in it.
  14. I thought it might be fun to start a thread to report on our weight losses so far. June is half over so we are about half banded. It would be exciting to see and motivating for those yet to be banded. Counting your pre op liquid diet, if you had one until now how much have you lost so far?? For me I started losing as I started researching bariatric surgery and lost 10 lbs by the time I went to my seminar, but from the time of my first consult appt. with my surgeon and now 9 days post op I lost 22 more. For a total of 32 lbs. but not sure if I should call it 32 or 22, either way it's good. And might as well count from my highest! LOL
  15. Angelco!! Good for you. I heard the port side is dependent on if the surgeon is right or left handed. Not sure there's any truth to that or not. Also I did weigh before my surgery and was down about 4 lbs. since my pre op a day before. However, when I got home and weighed I was up 8!!! That was gone in a day or two! Today was my first big challenge. We went out to lunch with some friends. We went to the Islamorada Fish Company inside Bass Pro Shops. I thought that would be a good choice as today I could add soft foods and fish was highly recommended. I did great, but all the other food looked so good. Tonight they are having a poker party here and my daughter is making up all the goodies. They look good but yet not that appealing. So maybe that is a good thing. I just tried putting on my jeans as I hadn't worn them in a week for fear of rubbing the incisions. They are so big already!!! I am down 30 lbs already (10 was before my first consult with my dr.)
  16. I never heard of the camera down the throat either. You'll do fine. I was nervous about the anestesia but never even knew when they put me under and before I knew it I was in recovery.
  17. It'll be here before you know it. Seems like the wait is so long to get our surgery dates, then our surgeries, then when mine hit last week it was like wow! it's here already! Good luck to you!!
  18. Thanks Cathy. Tonight it has gone up a little bit, the top number is almost in the 100's now and my pulse has gone up to the 60s. I'm anxious to see what it does tomorrow my first day RX free! I just feel so relieved to have a reason as to why I would just hit a brick wall every afternoon and get so faint. I guess I was one of the lucky ones as I never got much gas pain, just a little between my shoulder blades, and not often. My surgeon did say he tries to remove it all before closing up.
  19. My post op went great! Lost 9 lbs in 6 days! Incisions look great as well. I then went to the 2 nutrition class my hospital offers post op, one for soft foods, and one for solid. I'm gradually adding a few more things. Then 3 weeks get solids. Also my b/p is way too low and am going off b/p meds! I couldn't be happier!! Overall I am down almost 30 (10 of which was before I even had my consult but I'm counting it!!).
  20. Wow, we must be about half way through the June bandsters already! The time seemed so far off when we got our dates, and look at all those on the couch now!! I'm one week post op and doing good. Had some serious issues with low blood pressure 80/50 with a pulse of 46. Called my primary care doc and am off b/p meds for now!! I have to monitor it closely and if it creeps up maybe get a lower dose med, but I am praying for no meds. Had no idea it could happen this fast!!
  21. So today is my one week post op 'anniversary'. One of my main complaints the last few days is this lightheaded, dizzy, feeling like I am going to pass out feeling. It's happened the past 3 days and seems to be getting worse. Well today I was home when it happened and I took my blood pressure, it was 80/50!!! My pulse was 46. I promptly called my surgeons office and they referred me to my primary care to ask about dropping my blood pressure meds some. THEY TOOK ME OFF OF THEM!!!! ONE WEEK POST OP AND I AM ALREADY GOING OFF B/P MEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled with that. Of course, I have to monitor it closely at home to be sure it doesn't spike back up, but she said that was way way too low. And if it does go up, I may need a weaker RX!!! I was hoping to get off them eventually but never dreamt at one week!!!!!!!!!
  22. Well I found out the reason for my 'whoozieness'! Today I was home when it happened and I took my blood pressure, it was 80/50!!! My pulse was 46. 24. I've added scrambled eggs and refried beans. Will have some pudding lately. It tasted so good to get a little flavor. I had my post op yesterday and lost 9 lbs since surgery!! But I feel rather dizzy at least once a day.
  25. Today was originally supposed to be my surgery date, instead I am one week post op. I'm doing pretty good except for a few minor issues. It seems I get a really dizzy nauseous spell about once a day. I just tried some scrambled eggs but only ate about half an egg. I got a discomfort in my back a while after I finished. I'm wondering if this is my full feeling? Or is it still the gas? Also the thrush in my mouth is beginning to go away. If I do okay on my scrambled eggs, refried beans, or s/f pudding today, tomorrow I get to add some more soft foods. My only complaint is this whoozy feeling. I am wondering if maybe it's my b/p going to low? I take an RX for it. Glad all the JuneBugs are reporting in, it's been great to read!
