Thought of another one. I want to take a bath where my body doesn't create a suction vacuum behind me, and for water to be able to cover me!

I touched on this very subject during my pre-op psych evaluation. I explained one thing I was not looking forward to while losing weight was all the unsolicited comments and compliments. I've never been good at accepting them; so much so that I can pinpoint a time where a compliment set the wheels in motion for weight regain after I had been successful. The so called compliment was from a person known to be judgmental and think poorly of overweight people. She went on and on in front of co-workers how good I looked. In my head I knew she was saying , "hey, you look good, keep up the work because you really looked like s**t before. " I'm sure she was a mean girl in school. Subconsciously I think I allowed myself to fall off the diet and exercise wagon and start regaining in order to avoid any further attention.
Of course that was an excuse but I knew this time around I would have to deal with the exact same thing so I really worked on appropriate responses. My go to response is "thank you, I've been working really hard on things." Then I tell the voice in my head to shut up and move on. It's worked. If someone presses me for details on "how" I've lost or my favorite "how much" and they aren't a part of my inner circle I've been known to tell them it is none of their business.
The good news is I'm beginning to learn to accept the heartfelt compliments. That said, my husband knows me so well and knows to limit the "mushies" that he often gives back-handed compliments. My favorite was when he told my son , "you better not talk that way to your mom, she is light on her feet and goes to the gym everyday, she will kick your butt. Watch yourself." We laughed as he stormed off to his room.

True for sure! So many people think that once the surgery is done, they are done. This is indeed a lifelong committment and a constant watch of what we are doing all the time. If we let things pass, we will revert back to our old selves and be back where we started.

So just finishing up week 3 post-op of my GB and down 20 lbs. Picture in blue is 1 month prior to surgery and pictures in blue are today. I see a little difference in my face but not much else yet. Blood sugars are steadily improving though and that is my main goal, no more diabetes medicine.

The Ricotta Bake is is a delicoius dish that is high in protein and low in carbs. And, for most programs, it qualifies as a soft food!
It only takes 30 minutes and a few basic ingredients.
    Time to Ready: 30mins
    Servings: About 4

    INGREDIENTS

    8 ounces ricotta cheese

    1⁄2 cup grated parmesan cheese

    1 large egg, beaten

    1 teaspoon italian seasoning

    salt & pepper

    1⁄2 cup marinara sauce

    1⁄2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    DIRECTIONS

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish.

Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese.

Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly.

Life is going to happen. You are going to go someplace and there is not going to be a healthy option--TRUTH. Case in point, I am going to a county fair this weekend, the mecca of fried food. I also went to a theme park recently, not much there for me to choose from. I packed a protein bar and some water and then just nibbled on some stuff my husband and kids were eating, It was all junk.
So--I am almost four months, I was able to have a few bites of the bad stuff at about two and a half months without much side effects. Word to the wise, take the advice or not--if you have no choice or find yourself in a social situation where you must partake--go ahead, few nibbles are not going to kill you. But if you have a plethora of choices and it is just a craving, try to fight it and look for an alternative. And if you just have to pick up that badness from the food cart, take your few bites (and believe me, with the grease and spice it will be only a few bites) and then trash it. Don't bring it home and munch on it later, get rid of it. Don't think about the waste of food or money. Not only will it keep you from grazing it can be a symbolic victory over indulging.
