  1. I had lots of "port" pain too. I saw my doc and she gave me some neurontin for the pain, which helped me to be mobile again. I still have some pain when I exert myself too much, even 6 weeks post op, but nothing I have to take medicine for. Good Luck!
  2. Congratulations! I am glad everything is going well for you!
  3. Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I will try your tips!!
  4. I was banded 5 days ago. 3 days ago, my bowels woke up and I started passing gas... that is when the horrible left shoulder pain started. I've been taking gas-x and walking alot. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks!!!
  5. Hi. I was banded on Monday (it is Thurs today). I am on full liquids, so I am enjoying things like sugar- free pudding and ispure protein drink. I am getting a little tired of the isopure, though. I may just start drinking plain water, and get my protein from homemade shakes or something. I stopped taking my prescription pain meds bc it made me very dizzy and slightly nauseated. I am just taking Tylenol now. The gas pains in my left shoulder and neck have kicked in. Wow! What pain! I am taking gas-x and am going to go on a walk outside later this afternoon- so hopefully it will help. Good luck to everyone!
  6. Hi Brubear! How are you doing with your preparations for surgery? 13 days and counting! I did my pre-op teaching and testing last week. I need to head to the store to get the necessary items for post-op! Good luck to you!!!!
  7. Sorry to hear that you have to change surgeons. I hope you get another date very soon. Good Luck!
  8. Thanks Cathy Chatts- I will have to check them out! I hope things are going smoothly for you. Take care!!!
  9. Cathy Chatts- what do you mean by liqiud protein in your list of things for the first 3 days? Since it is a full liquid diet, do you mean Isopure? Are there others out there?
  10. Thanks, Debbie. It IS time to start getting all that stuff! Good Luck this June, everyone!!!!
  11. Hi RAINWI. June 23!!!! It's crunch time! Have you had your pre-op tesing yet?
  12. Hey Brubear. I went on the site and set it all up, but then I don't know how to get it onto this website...
  13. How did you get your ticker and avatar?
  14. Hi Brubear! 4 weeks and counting (I am June 23 too)! Good Luck!!!
  15. That is so funny bc I am going to have to be careful with my hubby too. Let's just say we have "grown" together over the last 10 years:biggrin2:He is doing awesome with exercising everyday and watching his portions, but every now and then, he'll want to go to Chung Dao (Chinese version of Golden Corral). So I have to work on saying NO. But hey, maybe, if your pre op diet allows, you should have one last "hurrah" at GC!
  16. Hi Maria (Gardengrl). - so many Marias, I will get confused :biggrin2:That is a good question, about the fatty liver. I know you said your weightis the same, but have you changed your diet over the last couple of years? That is the only thing I can think of... Good Luck! Maria (MariaMomof3)
  17. Hello everyone. I have not been to my pre-op ed. class yet... I hear the bypass patients say that they cannot use straws after their surgery. Is that true for Banders too?
  18. Hi Debbie. I was on Amazon and I ordered some books that they have specifically for lap band patients. Just a few months ago, there was nothing specific to lapband. I am so excited. :leaving: I really need to get on this website more often to check out all the cool information for us- especially the nutrition part. Talk to you soon. Hope everything is going well! Maria
  19. Hi Debbie. How did you find out you had a fatty liver? I am wondering if I do too.:confused2: I really need to come up with a game plan of "good" meal plans. I have a husband (who I hope will someday have the lapband too) and two small kids, so I think this will be challenging. The "good" meals take time and planning. I ordered some books online that have recipes. They are written by people who have had the gastric bypass, but I heard the secret to losing weight with the lapband is to eat as if you had had the gastric bypass. Have a good day. Maria :biggrin2: ( I love these little faces)
  20. Here is the line up so far! Please add to and correct! 2 Debi  5 JoannaG, Irish Ladybug :w00t: 6 Kristybandy, cathychatts :smile2: 10 Jules, 12 cris3 :smile2: 13 batassbandita  17 Tex diva, :w00t: 23 Mariamomof2  24 Snuffy65 :tt2: 25 Tennessee Mom
  21. That is awesome that we have the same date. Have you done your pre-op testing and "day with the dietician" yet? ANy words of advice? I am trying not to drink with my meal right now. A dietician I saw said to work on one habit at a time (ie not drinking during the meal). Then I can work on not drinking after my meal. It is a bit hard to do and honestly, I haven't been very good at it.
  22. Hello everyone. I am new to lapband talk. I am so happy to see an enormous amount of support with "banders":cool2: . I have not had my pre-op teaching day yet. It is scheduled 2 weeks before my band date.
