  1. What are bean chips?
  2. I drink right up to my meal but I don't drink during and I try to wait a while after. I try not to drink anything real cold before I eat because it seems to make me tighter
  3. Guy. They took all my fluid out but didn't say anything about all liquids. Is that what I should be doing?
  4. I have has my band for 5 years with great success (-140) and very little problems. I haven't been to my doc in 3 years! (Didn't realize it had been that long). I have been struggling with burning stomach, some reflux, being able to eat too much, and weight gain ( about 20 lbs since November) I let all these things go for way too long I know! (Don't wait like me). I finally went in on Monday and they completely unfilled my band. She thinks I have just stretched my pouch. But I'm going in the morning for an upper gi to be sure. I'm hoping there is no major prob and a few weeks of unfill will fix it! Now I have to try to be a very good girl in the eating department. Thanks for letting me vent to people that understand all of this!
  5. I'm scared that I'm in your same boat! I have has mine 5 years with great success -140. And very few probs. I hadn't been to my doc in about 3 yrs because I felt great. But over the last 6 months or so I have had heart burn, some reflux, and I have been able to eat too much which has causes me to gain close to 29 lbs. I finally went Monday (please don't put it off like me people) and they completely I filled my band. She thinks I have just stretched my pouch. But I go in tomorrow for an upper gi. I'm anxiously awaiting and I hope it's just stretched! I hope yours is an easy fix too. Ill watch for updates on you!
  6. Could you possibly be too tight?
  7. I went to my band doc today and they removed all my fluid from my band. They think I have stretched out my pouch. I go Wednesday morning for an upper gi so they can make sure that's what it is. If so I have to wait two weeks before I can start putting fluid back in. So I have to be very careful not to go crazy with my eating!
  8. I usually share with my husband too but I try to tip as if we each ordered because they served two people...usually about 20% plus a few extra bucks
  9. Thanks so much for the quick responses....I get acid reflux at night but my stomach seemed to be burning off and on all day. Especially when I ate. The meds my doc put me on last week have made such a difference! It's def been a while since I've been to my band doc. So I prob need to schedule a visit!
  10. I have had my band for a little over 5 years and I am very happy to say I have had success with very little problem. Went from 314-171. I have gained about 17 pounds since December and this is the first weight gain I've experienced since banded. I'm having a few issues. Weight gain because I can eat most anything and more of it, acid reflux, (which my reg doc recently put me on meds) and bloating and gas. I'm just wondering why I can eat greater amounts and bread and other no no foods I couldn't eat before? Can my band have lost Fluid or restriction on its own or could there be another prob? Thanks so much for any advice or words of wisdom!
  11. I was banded on May 13th and have lost 24 lbs. I have advanced to a pretty normal diet and my scale hasnt moved in a few days...:thumbdown:I'm hoping it is just my body adjusting to the added foods. I hope I will get a fill on the 26th when I go for my visit. I can tell each day, that I am able to eat more and more, so I am really trying to "control" my portions.....
  12. I had my band done on May 13th (Love it) In years past, I was successful on ww, I also thought it was very healthy (just had trouble sticking with it,,,hence the band) Does anyone use ww with their band? It is so much easier for my brain to think points instead of calories. Also, as far as carbs go,,I know we are supposed to avoid them, but is it because theyare bad for our band or are they just too high in calories? If so, what about the whole wheat pasta, and whole grain bread?? Thanks so much for the advice!!
  13. I had my surgery on May 13th and I don't think things could have went any smoother....I got to the hospital at 5am and was prepped and taken to the OR at 7:30. The doc came out and told my hubby that everything went great at about 8:30. I rested in the room and went for my xray at about 1:00. I went home at about 6:00 that evening. Unfortunately I didn't get to rest much after I got home. My mother had a brain tumor and really took a turn for the worst on the 14th. We stayed at her bedside until she passed away on the 19th. Thankfully, I had some gas pains that were pretty tolerable. Most of my soreness was gone in about 10 days...I haven't had any problems at all and as a matter of fact, I ate my first "meal" today. I had a small piece of salmon, some cottage cheese and blended broccoli, cheese and potatoes. It was wonderful!! I hope you all had as good of a surgery as I did..God, I'm sure, made sure I would be able to be there and tell my sweet momma goodbye love to all,
  14. yes, I am banded!! yesterday morning, arrived at the hosp at 5:00 am. Everything went really well and I was released at about 6:30 p.m. Pretty sore today, not too much gas.... but other than that I'm feeling great. sipping my water constantly!:thumbup:
  15. Hooray! My surgery is first thing tomorrow morning!! I'm very excited and nervous...I haven't packed one thing...it's been a strange day. I've been very tired (prob. due to the low cal liquid pre op) and I dont really know what I need for my hospital visit. It's supposed to be outpatient and I have to be there at 5 a.m. which means we will leave home around 3:30!! Any advice??
  16. They only took a couple of weeks to approve me...It was much faster than I had anticipated...good luck! Keep calling them....
  17. I think you should be able to just click on your ticker and it will take you to the page....
  18. Thanks for the play by play....It really helps those of us that are getting close to our dates!! Aqua....I'm on the 13th too.....I'm also very excited, but, getting nervous at the same time...I feel like I need to be getting so many things "ready" but I'm not sure what!! Cant wait!!!
  19. can anyone help me and tell me how to put an avatar by my name???? THanks
  20. Hang in there! I would suggest making a list (I'm a teacher too, and I think we are list makers) Takle one thing at a time, I would start with the physician so your 6 months can begin. The time will go pretty quickly, and think of the positive results in the end....I get my band on May 13th (I'm so sad to miss a week or 2 of school right now....Not!) Best of luck to you
  21. Ok...I am on day 5 of the liquid diet...which consists of 4 low carb slim fasts, and all of the broth, sf jello, sf popsicles and water I want....I am a teacher and this week is teacher appreciation week..every day there's been food!!!! donuts, snack mix, popcorn, candy, pasteries!!! It has been tough! I have my surgery on the 13th so 5 more days! I just bought my chewable vitamins and calcium chews....I took them a few minutes ago and they tasted wonderful (how pathetic is that) I can do this right?????:huh2::cool2:
  22. productive burping......ok....that's such a "nice" way to put it!! thanks!!
  23. As I'm reading around here, I keep seeing PB.....I'm a newbie...so what does this stand for?
  24. Oh my,,,I had yesterdays date wrong!!! I only have 8 days til surgery!!! I'm on the 13th..I go tomorrow to meet with the nutritionist....day 2 isn't too bad...but I want something salty soooo bad! Everything on my list is sweet except my broth!!! Are any of you tired??? I feel a little tired today.
  25. I am on day one of the pre op liquid diet....I can have 4 low carb slimfasts a day and all the broth, sf Jello, sf popsicles I want. It hasn't been too bad so far, but I bet I'll change that vote in a day or 2...My poor hubby doesn't know what to do,,,he feels awful getting to eat when I can't. I think today, my head misses the food more than my stomach...make any sense??? 10 days til my surgery...I can do this!!!
