BCBS recieved all of my paperwork on April 28. I have called them several times to check my approval status and they say no decision yet. They also tell me that it can take 2 - 6 weeks for approval. Is this normal? I don't know it I can wait 6 weeks, especially after having to do the 6 month supervised diet.

They only took a couple of weeks to approve me...It was much faster than I had anticipated...good luck! Keep calling them....

I live in Maryland. It took 9 weeks to get BCBS to approve. My Dr. coordinator said that now they have "slowed" down the approvals in this area because of the huge jump in people wanting the procedure, increased since the TV commercials that started in January.

Don't drive yourself crazy.

Ask the the Dr. office coordinator to do that for you; they know the "go to person" at the insurance company.... you are not going to know who has the signature control... and are just talking to a "message taker"...

Don't sweat the approval ....

Start to change your mind-set as patient who IS being banded.
