  1. Hi everyone! I've been banded since 4/25/08, and have lost 19 pound in the month that followed. I am slowly learning the ropes of this thing and enjoying the process (most of the time). My doctor is Dr. Felix Spiegel in Houston. I have an appointment with the Nutritionist on Friday because now I've got the cure (the band) but I am no wiser about food, so I am looking forward to hearing what she has to say! Dr. Spiegel says as long as you keep the calories from 800 to 1000 a day you will still loose weight; it cannot fly off fast enough for me, but it's truly a huge undertaking that impacts every area of your life. Please stop by and say hello!
  2. No, it only means what you think it means. Anyone can have a slip. I have never heard of an entire 4 weeks food free -- so hard! The worst I have heard of is one week food free and my doctor says two days before surgery is all you need. Do not feel like a failure, just get back on track. And perhaps call another doctor with a more lenient program!
  3. I think you are probably freaking out because surgery is so close but hey, there is no harm in postpoining if you are truly upset. Just put it off six months and if you are not at your goal by then, or well on your way to it, then do it. I think this: all of my best methods, diets, and thinking got me right here. I'm going to do it. When you are ready, and not one second sooner, I'll see you there!
  4. You are never too old! Do this and spend the rest of your life slim and healthy.
  5. I am so ready to do this lapband, but the insurance part has me worried -- they said YES, now I have to get "precertified" - Fiser is the company. After which I can have it? Do you know, since I will owe 20% of the costs, if I have to pay that ahead of time? I'm doing Dr. Spiegel in Houston. Thanks so much!
