  1. PBing in Productive Burping. I've never experienced it since I have no restriction so I'm not the best to explain it. I guess it is just what it sound like. When you burp, some of your food come up. Lovely, huh?? Thanks to all who have responded. At least I now know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm just so frustrated since I thought this would help me to not eat more than it has. I guess I need to work on my patience. Thanks again.
  2. I use Spivak too but I was told I had to wait three weeks. And, I still have not seen Dr. Spivak since my surgery.??? When I asked about seeing him, I was told there was really no reason. I wonder if I was a self pay, if I would be getting the same treatment?
  3. I had my first fill Monday, May 1st, a week ago. Since then I have felt no restriction what-so-ever. I had someone tell me that it may take 2 weeks after the fill to feel the restriction. Does that make since? Has anyone else been told this? You would think as time goes on I would feel less restriction, not more. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ghb
  4. Count me in. I need a good kick in the butt!
  5. I was just banded on the 20th so I haven't been to a meeting yet. I know they met last Wed. at the Starbucks in Target on 290/Spring Cypress. I know you would be welcomed. You can PM me any time if you have any questions. Would love to get to know some fellow bandsters. Glenna
  6. Hey Veronica. I live in Cypress. 290/Spring Cypress area. There is a group who meets up here but that may be a little farther than you want to travel. You might try the yahoo groups. I know there is a NW bandsters group but not sure where they meet. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/HoustonAreaBandsters/
  7. That kind of bothers me that they are giving two different stories. I am suppose to get my band on Monday, the 20th. When they called yesterday Brenda made it sound like it was UHC dropping Spivak. I'm concerned I'm getting scammed somehow. When I called the hospital to ask how much the procedure would cost they said they have worked out a deal with UHC so that UHC covers 90%, even though they are out of network. So why will UHC work with the hospital but not Spivak???? Doesn't that seem kind of strange?? Or am I just getting paranoid? I'm already nervous enough about getting this done but now I'm questioning if this is sign or something to not go through with it...Don't you love insurance???
  8. I think you have this backwards. UHC has dropped Spivak as an in network physician. I spoke with them today. They are working on this issue and are trying to make this work for his patients. He is going to charge me $2000 upfront and then see what can be worked out with insurance. If he can't get anything worked out the total cost is $5000. UHC was only wanting to pay $1100 for the procedure which of course is not nearly enough. Just thought I would clear up the fact that it's not Spivak that's dropping the insurance. It's UHC that's doing the dropping.
  9. I just received my letter saying that my Lapband is approved. They will cover 90% of the cost with a $1100 deductible. The insurance is United Healthcare. I think I'm on the ProChoice Plan. Good luck.
  10. Thanks for your reply. Do you mind telling me how long you stayed in the hospital?
  11. Can any of Dr. Spivak's patients tell me which hospital they used and give me their opinion of the hospital used and how long they stayed? I'm narrowing down my choices. Just talked to my insurance (United) and they said they will cover the procedure. :clap2: I'm very excited and want to get this scheduled asap. Also, can anyone let me know how long you had to wait to have the lapband procedure done with Dr. Spival.
