  1. Is it just me or has anyone else been lightheaded during the liquid diet phase. My doctor is super strict about the liquid diet. Its Clear liquids only no Protein what so ever. I'm soooo lightheaded. I go on Friday for surgery. Man this CLD is rough! I'm coffeeing it up because I had enough broth to drown a rat! : ) LOL.
  2. I had surgery on the 16th with Dr. Van Wagner in St. Louis, after coming out of surgery I found out that my liver was still to large for him to get the band on. So after all of this I still didnt get my band. I followed the pre op diet as dirrected no cheats! I talked to a nurse but she didnt say to me yes he will re do it and I dont get to see him until tomorrow and I'm going a little nutz! I've worked for eight months to get this surgery just to come out of it with 5 holes and no band! Totally sad! :wink2:
  3. Luna, I agree with Dana I dont think I'd tell them. In all honesty its not that much when you put it in perspective however, I would lay off the food really! I called my doctor and he agreed to the crackers but I've been extremely carefull not to eat to many. I do feel so much better now. Stay strong you'll be there in no time. Danalou, nope dont want to trade you! LOL : ) However, I'll be happy to lend an ear if you want to complain! Good luck girls my surgery is tomorrow! Wow how time has flown!

    Any May Bandsters?

Thought I would chime in!! MINE IS TOMORROW!!!!
  5. It took several days for me. I had to take part day for the psych eval. and then half day for the nutritionist apt. full day for pre op testing. Another full day for stress test plus surgery time off that was 3 days so your talking about a week of total time. Thats not including the 5 visits after surgery within the first year for my doc. So its time consuming but its all worth it in my opinion. I have a great workplace and my supervisor is extremely supportive!
  6. I drink skim milk normally so I think I'd love it. I'm sorry we're both in the same spot. I called my docs office and they told me to add in tomato soup and a couple of saltines if I keep getting light headed and dizzy and to call her back if it continues. Its been going for almost a week now. SHEESH!
  7. When I say soup I mean broth. I get strained soup. Carnation instant breakfast sounds soooo good. I guess you always want what you cant have! : )
  8. I would kill for just about anything other than broth! I did find an unlimited soup place and I drank about a gallon I think. LOL like four bowls! LOL! I felt so much better afterwards!
  9. I figured I would start a thread for all of us having surgery locally. Hopefully we can network and maybe get a bit of support and knowledge from each other. I'm getting mine done at St. Alexius in STL by Dr. Van Wagner
  10. Sharillaree - I am having surgery in StL at St. Alexius this friday! : ) Dr. Van Wagner. I am alot better today about the light headed and dizzy thing but I had the most horrible morning. I had to do the stress test. Couldnt drink anything until 2 p.m. I was so dizzy I had to call in to work and come home and sleep. I felt much better once I got up and drank some more dinner. Sharillaree feel fee to pm me if you want to talk.
  11. Lewser- you are so right! It will all be worth it Friday. I just pray I can stay strong. I'm doing okay today but the past two days have been kinda hard. I found Wyler's checken bouillon with herbs and spices. It's totally yummy! Saving my bacon totally.
  12. I totally agree with Luna. The low carb with Protein would be fine with me. This all clear stuff is for the birds! I am doing better today than I was yesterday but again I'm back at work and that helps! Luna dont feel bad about your carrot episode. Last night I made myself a bowl of broth well strained veggie Soup. I drank that and was like hmm... I'm still hungary. So I made myself another. Still didnt help so I had a SF Jello. Guess what "didnt help" so I ate 2 more sf jello's still hungary so I had yet another broth. After all of that two hours later I was hungary again. I took a small tortilla and put a bit of cheese on it nuked it and ate it. I felt so much better and I wasnt hungry anymore. I know I shouldnt have but I too was going nutz! I'm staying strong today but I am still dizzy and lightheaded. Kathy - I have seen so many different diets being on this board that its truly amazing. Everyone on here has it different. You'll be fine discuss it with your doc and I'm sure you can get to something a little easier than mine. I'm 10 days clear liquids only. They let me go to 7 days because I was on vacation last week but man o man is this a challenge! Stay strong and "grounded" for us that are lightheaded! LOL : )
  13. OMG I am so glad you said that about the fogginess! I'm a total space cadet! Wheewww first day back to work after being on vacation for a week and man o man! Its ugly up in here! : ) Thanks for being there with me. I called my doc and they suggest a little gatoraid she thinks my electolites may be off a bit. We'll see. I have no gatoraid here at work and I'm too scared to go to the gas station. There is a McDonalds attached! YIKES!!!

    ** ISOPURE ** man its a mint

I'll check out the "other brands" thanks for the tip!
  15. Has anyone bought Isopure powder? I was told by another person having the lap band done at the same hospital I am that they send you home with a small amount of Isopure. It has like 50gms of protien and zero everything else except for about 150 calories. So I am trying to find it online at a good price. GNC is like $60.00 for the 3lb tub in the stores and online There ia a suplement store that has it for like $37.99 or so. I'm just wondering if anyone else has bought it and has flavor suggestions or a reasonable place to buy it. I only plan on being on it for the first 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks for your help! Crystal~
  16. They will want info from the past six months. I too had attempts in the past and they did not accept that. Sorry for the late post. Best of luck to you but I imagine your going to need to start from this current point and even if you dont I would make a doctors appt and start the ball rolling for that process just in case! Best of luck!
  17. I've done insurance and billing and coding for 8 years. I too had six months of medically supervised diet. I had been going to a weight loss support group called T.O.P.S. and a personal trainer at Club Fitness. I had been doing it for years. Insurance varies per employer even if two people have BCBS Arkansas they can have two completely different sets of requirements. My plan with Cigna wouldnt accept that. I had to start in October seing a doctor every month. After that they would approve it. I did not loose weight during the 6 months I stayed the same for 4 and then gained 2 of the 6. I hated the fact that I was being forced to endure 6 more months. But hey I got through it and I'm being banded next month. Hope this helps sorry if it wasnt what you were looking for. Best of luck getting the insurance to approve it. If you can prove that there is a dietician on staff or maybe some other registered clinician than just maybe. Good Luck. Take it from me 6 months starting over is rough but you'll get throught it!
