Last minute change
I had originally wanted the sleeve when I met my surgeon. After doing some more research I changed my mind and elected bypass, My surgeons office needed to know for sure which surgery we were doing before submitting it to be certain the insurance would pay for it.

Poop post op
Take 60mls right before you go to bed and drink a full glass of water. Hopefully you'll be able to poop tomorrow and feel better. I'm taking another dose tonight, hopefully every other day while I'm healing.

Aha now i know
I had surgery 5 days ago, healing well and have had no issues drinking my liquid diet or getting my water down. I just discovered if I eat to large a portion of soup to fast I will feel sick to my stomach and have chest pains. I think this was possible a dumping episode, I ended up lying down for an hour and feel much better now. Lesson learned, small amounts and slow the hell down.

Better tasting chewable vitamin recommendations???
I like the Bariatric Advantage chewables. I bought the calcium and vitamins, they are like Starburst chews and taste great!

unprotected sex a week before surgery??
When I was being prepped for surgery I overheard some of the docs talking about getting pregnancy tests done for some the younger women also being prepped. Ask you Dr just in case.

How important is Exercise?
Can’t wait to get back in the pool in a couple of weeks. I have limited mobility in my legs but i can swim for exercise. Just gotta let these darn incisions heal up! There are also many exercise videos on Youtube some done from a chair so even those with very limited abilities can do something!

Not really hungry but...
Had RNY on Tue 7/24 and I’m working hard on getting protein, water and calories in as directed. I’m not sure if I’m hungry or not, I’m sick of sweet shakes so I’m trying cream soups which helps. What doesn’t help is cooking the family sausage and potatoes with peppers and onions for dinner. I don’t really want it but it sure smells good! Sigh, not really a pity party and i have no regrets but I’d sure like a nibble on one of those buttery peppers or a pinch of sausage. I know i’ll be able to enjoy it again some time but it is a challenge.

Poop post op
I had surgery 7/24, drank smooth move tea with no results, finally had a dose of Milk Of Magnesia before bed last night and this morning 7/29 got great results with no straining. My Dr office recommended MOM with prune juice but it worked for me without the juice. I feel much better and relieved that all is working. Good luck.

In absolute shock
Oh so sorry, i’m sure you’re super disappointed. I’m surprised you didn’t have to get cardiac clearance prior to surgery. I also take lisinopril along with several other meds, took them the morning of surgery per my Dr. but I’d also had to have a CT, echo, ekg and chest x-rays before i could ever go under anesthesia. Good luck.

Im 3 weeks past op and suddenly stalled weight loss this week.
I’m just repeating advice that seemed to work for others. Up your calories AND protein and recognize that a stall at 3 weeks post is pretty normal. Good luck

New and Need Support
If you need a Cpap then be cool and use it. It took me a week to get used to mine and now I love it. I have severe apnea and before being diagnosed I was falling asleep driving, and literaly dying from lack of REM sleep, I hope one day to not need it after losing weight but if not its no big deal. Good luck

Day 3 Post Op
Drinking my Smoothe Move tea in the hopes of moving things around, Some abdominal pain but nothing that is to bad, I am enjoying taking a nap mid day, it feels like a real luxury, Still struggling to get my protein and water in daily. 2 more weeks of full liquids then 4 weeks of soft proteins. Looking forward to real food. I have lost 5 lbs since my surgery although I am not focusing on it. Hang in there ladies, we got this!

Day 3 Post Op
I’m 2 days post op, taking all my pills without crushing, they’re going down ok. No where near getting my protein or water in but I’m trying. Slight nausea, a lot of abdominal soreness, some gas. Ready to move on.

Best shake???
My surgeons office doesn’t think very highly of the Premier shakes. I guess the protein source isn’t as good as milk whey. I like the variety of flavors they offer and the ease of RTD. ☹️

Just wondering how long did you stay in the hospital?
I had bypass and went home the next afternoon.
-
Eating
Lunch was 1oz chicken soup, 1oz sf pudding and some kind of gelatinous apple flavored protein drink 1 oz. Luckily it all tastes ok, Im able to get it all in and drink my water ok, Just got home from the hospital, had a hard time getting my pain meds filled, had to drive all over town to find a pharmacy that carried didlauden. Now I have to figure out how to eat on my own. Im not hungry but I know I need to eat, I am exhausted, didnt get much sleep in the hospital, now the adventure begins.

Eating
So I just finished my first post op breakfast. 1 oz Cream of wheat, which i didn’t finish and 1 oz SF pudding. Yummy, i adore the teeny spoons they gave me to eat with. I’m really sore in the abdomen and it’s hurts a lot to stand but overall it’s good. Hope to be released to go home this afternoon.
