  1. I use LoseIt. I have for several years. It’s the only thing that keeps me on the straight and narrow. ?
  2. Daily. Get up. Make the pee pee. Strip off the jammies. Pull the scale out of the time out closet. Get on. Groan. Record weight. Put the jammies back on and start day. ?‍♀️
  3. I could eat any seafood as long as I chewed it to purée. Salmon was more difficult because if it’s not cooked properly it is dry and your jaw will get tired before it’s chewed enough. The key is: Take small...tiny bites and chew it to death before you swallow. Enjoy!
  4. @jultrim18 I can’t yet do volume and rarely eat breads...one slice would be too filling, but natural peanut butter is an everyday food source. I can def increase that! @greentealael had a great suggestion with nuts. I can def add in unsalted raw nuts...love them. I will be seeing my BariatricPal surgeon in 10 days or so (depending on my face/neck lift recovery progress after next Tuesday). Can ask questions then. I actually forgot that my healthcare plan will provide me with specialized healthcare coaches for anything I desire, free of charge. Husband just reminded me that I just have to call and ask. Der! I don’t have an ongoing nutritionist because I was a lightweight Band to Sleeve revision and had maintained for years. I guess they assumed that I knew a little something. Not so much! This is a whole new world!
  5. I am one pound away from my revised final goal. I thought I wanted to get to 140 but here at 151 I'm getting boney. I'm a farm girl, big boned and curvy so what sounds like a lot of weight never looks like much on me. I'm happy here. I feel good. And, my suspicions were confirmed when I went to see a plastic surgeon about a chin lift I'm having and he told me I really shouldn't lose any more weight. In fact, he said I had a beautiful, youthful look and if I lost more I'd begin to look haggard and older than my almost 54 years. Problem is, at only three months out, I'm having trouble getting to 700-800 calories a day. I just can't handle a second shake and a second protein bar as well as my food (and I'm sure as heck not going to eat crap to load calories). Plus, I am barely allowed to MOVE for the next 6-8 weeks after my neck/facelift! Any suggestions for maintenance this early on?
  6. Honestly, you’re being dramatic. But, how you feel is how you feel. So, it’s valid. Maybe research statistics to reinforce that you fears are not based on reality? Stay active to keep your brain busy? Talk to your therapist? I wish you the very best.
  7. Just wondering how you’re doing now that some time has passed?
  8. I use bone broth sometimes to get my protein in. I prefer the chicken flavor because all of the other flavors smell like meat, anyway, regardless of their packaged flavor. I also like that some, like the brand I buy, can be mixed warm. However, bone broth tends to be very salty...check your sodium levels. I don’t cook with or use salt on anything so when I do drink bone broth, it’s not a huge issue. It does, however, taste incredibly salty to me.
  9. You are tearing this up! Great work!
  10. I have a feeling you are beautiful at any weight but I’m glad you FEEL beautiful now! Congrats!
  11. Oh, and we highlight my hair regularly to blend texture through the greys...per profile photo. I’ve had it done twice since surgery and am going again next week. But I don’t do solid dye jobs because they look flat on me. My scalp shows. Even before surgery.
  12. I got extensions right after surgery. My hair was just below shoulder length and super fine. We just switched them out two weeks ago (at just over 2 month’s post op) and didn’t notice any hair loss yet. I take biotin regularly and have for years. I’m in my 50’s, btw.
  13. I’d take it. It’s someone being kind in a way that they know. Your appearance is a tangible thing. It’s front and center. Your degree is not. Take kindness when it’s presented. There isn’t enough of it in the world. Don’t bristle because it’’s not the exact kindness YOU want.
  14. When I was a child, they called me chubby. Yet I modeled in NYC for boutiques during buying season. Hated it but did it because it made the same adults who called me chubby happy. As a teen I was under weight, same adults told me I was beautiful but suggested I lose a few. They wanted me to do pageants because we had Miss NJ’s and Miss Teenage America Runner Up’s in our family. But not my bag and by then my self esteem was shattered, my body image a mess. In my 20’s I was a swimsuit model in Miami. The very same adults said I was too fat for the job (the agency booked me regularly and got me paid on time though, right). In my mid-late 20’s, I became a TV model by accident. Was finally a fairly normal weight...just a little underweight. Wasn’t even looking for the job. Worked behind the camera, happily. They came to me. Right away, the adults in my life said I needed to lose 25 lbs because I was too big for TV. Natch, I I did just that. Because after all of this outside chatter, my inside eye had no idea what “too fat” looked like. I only really know that I wasn’t chubby as a child or too fat on TV by looking at photos or video from back then. This is the struggle so many people face. I was only overweight for a 10 year period but I lived as a fat person inside my head for my entire life. On the outside, people saw me as beautiful, I suppose. But it was completely wasted on me. I KNOW I got treated differently, got special privileges and leaway...but, again, it was wasted because I was, in my head—and always will be—the fat, funny friend. In one respect I am thankful for this disease. It has made me a kinder, more careful mother and a more empathic human. But, it sucks the life out of my brain.
  15. Probably felt crappy for him, though, huh? Congrats to you. Just don’t forget to have empathy.
  16. Thanks, Folks. I appreciate the support.
  17. It’s been a tough week and my husband is sick of hearing it. Intellectually, I know these are the same games my head has always played with me. The same dysmorphic thinking/“seeing”... Today I put on clothing from three years ago, from a time when I looked incredible. Even today as I looked at photos of me in this clothing I thought how terrific I looked in the outfit back then. I’m 10lbs lighter now. But, as has been happening recently (and often happens in my life) I swear I look much, much heavier? I mean, I know the answer...it’s all part of my disease. I know how to calm my head. But, it’s so frustrating that no matter where I am in life, this is never going to end. When I weighed 115lbs, I saw a fat girl. When I weighed 260lbs, I saw a fat girl. When I weighed 155lbs, I saw a fat girl. If I weighed 6lbs, I’ll still see a fat girl. No one except my shrink wants to hear this. There’s no need to respond. I’m fine. I’ve been dealing with this since my teens...I’m 53 now. I just really needed to vent.
  18. Have you tried switching to plant based protein? Pea based protein is the only thing that works for me. Otherwise I am nauseous and/or have diarrhea.
  19. It’s not a matter of the procedure being difficult or being too groggy afterwards, it’s whether they take you in ON TIME so you get out when expected! That’s the part I’d be concerned about.
  20. NOTE: I’m still very sensitive to the whey shakes, however, I can now tolerate dairy products like cheese. It’s freaky. I can eat whey protein bars now, too. But whey shakes still send my system over the edge.
  21. I’ll tell you my standard answer. It’s worked for several of us. Try switching over to plant based protein to see if it clears up the problem. Any vegan protein will do. I chose pea based and have stuck with it. (I’m almost 3 month’s post op.). It solved my problem within hours. You can get plant based shakes at Walmart right away. I order my pea based shakes from Amazon. Took me more than 9 days, several Doctors visits and all sorts of testing before I thought to ask anyone here about the problem. This is the answer I got. It worked like a charm. I hope this works for you!
  22. Absolutely agree. I wouldn’t waste one bit of energy on it unless it relates to your health and welfare regarding your surgery. How does it really make a difference in your life that this idiot chose to expose his moronic viewpoint? Aside from being a ridiculous, antiquated picture of an ideal female body type, does this make one bit of difference in your life from here on out? He’s still a great surgeon, right? You just happen to know that in this regard, he’s kind of an ass (and not afraid to show it). Why fight a battle that doesn’t need to be fought?
  23. It’s how I’ve always eaten, even as a child, and how I continue to eat. I have only liquids until approx 2pm. Then I eat my meals between 2pm and 9pm. During maintenance, my calories fluctuate based upon activity level. Alway low carb, high protein and as much fat as I want. Right now I’m 2.5 month’s post Sleeve. I do about 500-600 calories...mostly protein and fat. Maybe 30-40g carbs.
  24. Move forward Geez...you can tell your question rattled me. I changed tense about 100 times a made a ton of mistakes. ???‍♀️
