  1. WOOHOO!!! I started this process in October 2017, and as of today I finally have a date! I'll be getting my bypass on September 19th! I can't tell you how excited I am to know that this PRE-op process is finally heading toward a close. I'm ready to start my new life. I know post-op will be hard for the first several months, but I'm so ready. Now I just need to make sure I have EVERYTHING lined up and all my supplies purchased so that I'm ready for those all important clear liquid, liquid, and soft food stages. Let me know if you're joining me in September, we can be motivational buddies!
  2. Hello folks! I just got my date. Looks like my RNY is happening on September 19th. So I'll be right here with you all! All the best for a successful outcome.
  3. My surgery is only a month or two out, but I'm just starting to get serious about nutrition and meal planning. I should have started a long time ago, but I'm finally feeling really motivated to do a good job at this. For better or worse, my insurance doesn't require a liquid diet, so I'm very much on my own. I'd like to start planning meals and eating the way I'll have to eat after surgery. I know it'll be difficult, but I also know I really have to do this. If you have any resources for bariatric meal planning could you please share them with me? I'm looking for things like: Meal planning software or spreadsheets? Shopping guides? Tips about foods to eat and foods to avoid? Recipes All the best!
  4. Hi everyone, I'm just in the final few steps of the pre-operation process, and I should have a surgery date soon. It's getting real, and I'm both excited and scared at the same time. But what's bugging me right now is that everything in my life seems like it's in a holding pattern. I guess I feel like I can't concentrate on doing anything because I keep thinking about how out of shape and unhappy I am, and how I'll be happier once I can be more mobile and start exercising again. I'm NOT really depressed, just kind of... blah. Has anyone else experienced a phase like this pre-operation?
  5. Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself and check in here. This is actually my very first post to the forum. I started the journey back in September with my first seminar and meeting with my surgeon. Since then it's been a steady series of dietician and nutritionist meetings, exams, and preparation. I'm in the final stretch now, and should have a surgery date scheduled some time before the end of June. I'm hoping to have my surgery either in late June or early July. We'll see how it goes. This has been a very long process, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. But mostly... I just want to get it over with! I'm ready! Not long now. All the best to everyone.
