  1. Hello everyone, I recently I visited a Dr. for the gastric sleeve surgery and I have to go through a series of steps, nutritionist, psychiatrist evaluation and what not. It will be a 6 month process before I can get the ok, but honestly I'm scared. I have always bee overweight. Since I was a little girl. My heaviest been 340 at 35 years old. I recently decided to change my eating habits completely. So my starting weight in December was 297 and presently I am at 262. Never have I lost so much weight in such a short period of time and all with just will power. Anyways I do over eat at times and can gain like 10 pounds in 1 week if I do not watch what and how much I eat. So I'm thinking maybe I do need the surgery or maybe I can do it by myself going up and down the scale. But then I think if I get the surgery and I lose so excessive weight in a very short period of time how will my skin get, sagging, especially my stomach and my face. Can anyone who has had the surgery give me some feedback back on this I don't want to lose weight and look like I'm 60.
  2. I really truly need this because the up and down weight roller coaster sucks. I went down 13 lbs and gained 11 pounds back. Because I didn't watch what I ate , portion control. So now I have to work harder to lose the weight I had already lost. Screw this I really need this surgery. I was just told yesterday I have H palori bacteria and need to get that taken care of. So I am going to keep losing weight by myself and hopefully in October before my 45th birthday I can have the GVS and this tool will help me keep it off. My whole life I've been overweight and I do not remember the last time I weighed 255, my current weight from 300 in December. I wish you all the best and that you for your opinions. It really does help being a part of this support page.
  3. Thank you very much and that is so true. I am raising 2 of my granddaughters and they are only 6&8, so yes I need to do it for my health and well being. The skin can be removed if it is to bother me that much. I am very happy for and wash you the best. I recently went to a support group for individuals starting the journey for the 1st time. Honestly the testimony this particular individual whom had the GVS 9 months ago, was not pleasant listening to. She lost significant amount of weight, but the cons we're not welcoming to hear. She mentioned her hormone we're going crazy and she was very depressed

    Just starting the process??

I had my first consult on 4/11. I have my 1st appointment with the nutritionist on 4/24. I have a long ways to go the insurance requires a 6 months process to make sure one is ready physically and mentally to get the surgery. I'm excited nervous, Don't know whether or not to go through but I know it's for my own good and to add years to my life. I wish everyone who is starting the best as this is a life changing journey we are about to go through.
  5. Thanks for the feedback Taoz and allwet. I have to see that all those same health issues run in my family and many have suffered due to these illnesses. And your right I can choose to have surgery to remove the excess skin or working my behind off trying to tone as much possible. Thanks once again.
