Judy, just hang in there- your surgery will be here before you know it. i am glad i had it done. although i really think i need a fill, i am eating like crazy and my weight loss has kind of stalled. i am hoping dr.hoffman is there on saturday to ask him whether i should come in now, rather than later val
  2. you will do fine with the diet. when ever you are contemplating surgery it is normal to be nervous. but you have all of us to help you through it. for me, it was the best decision i made
  3. judy, after you get your labs done and you go back for second appt with np, that is when they set up the appt with Dr. Hoffman
  4. i had a catheter placed during surgery and it was removed about 6 hrs after. it wasnt too bad val
  5. i also had the glue (dermabond). i think it was great. i could shower right away and the healing time was shorter val
  6. just ask your doctor for the referral- they should take care of it. i had to do that even though my insurance doesnt require a referral. good luck

  8. hi judy, the psych eval is needed just to make sure you understand all the risks associated with surgery. you will prob need a chest xray but they will do it when you go for your pre-op stuff at bgh. that is when they did mine. i went to the park today. when i left my house it wasnt raining, but when i got there it started raining, so i didnt walk

Robert, I had my surgery on 3/31 and it was the best decision i ever made. i also had alot of difficulty losing weight prior to surgery. the lapband really gave me the motivation. since surgery i have lost about 27 lbs. by seeing some weight loss this has given me the incentive to keep it going. good luck! val
  10. i have found that my grocery bill is less- and i eat out less. because of what i need to eat, i bring my lunch everyday which saves me money, also

  12. Judy, we will all look awesome. with my weight loss so far I get so many compliments. everyone calls me skinny- i have never been told that my whole entire life. it is so great- i hope it doesn't go to my head, haha:biggrin2:
  13. i told my coworkers, because they would notice by the change in my eating. aquaintances i didnt tell, if they wanted to know what surgery i had i would tell them i had my gall bladder out
  14. it is a great store to work at, actually i was able to buy shirts at christopher and banks- some shirts i am down to a size 14, yahoo!

  16. i ate cottage cheese, yogurt, blended tuna fish, blended egg salad and blended chicken with salsa, blended chili
  17. i was banded on 3/31 and this happened to me for the first time. i got the chest pain, felt like ineeded to burp but couldnt. i felt like i was going to vomit but didnt and it did go away in afew minutes.
  18. i lost about 12 lbs preop and dr hoffman was pleased with that- he said it shrunk my liver nicely. you can watch the surgery on youtube and can see why they need the liver to shrink

  20. then u may be approved quickly. they will want you to go on the south beach diet and many of the insurance companies require you to lose 5% of your weight preop
  21. no it isnt scheduled until all your testing is done
  22. when you call leave your name and address. they send out a packet of info for you to fill out and then you return it and they then contact you for the seminar. good luck
  23. initially it was sore to sleep on my stomach and my left side, but after a few days there was no problem at all
  24. the week before surgery they had me do very low carb. the day before surgery i could have a low carb breakfast and then clear liquids the rest of the day
