  1. I just realized that I have to loose 140 lbs to be at "normal weight" for my height. That's like, 10 Paris Hilton's!!!! Was anyone else ever overwhelmed by this? Any tips for coping? Thanks Banders !

Today I finally did it! I worked up the courage to call Dr. Vernon's office at Brigham and Women's Hospital and make my initial pre-op consult! I am finally ready for this journey, and it begins 5/16/08! The receptionist told me I have to get a letter from my PCP stating that we've discussed Lap-Band, and I also have to get an insurance referral. There is a program fee of $500 :crying:! She said I can pay it in installments, which I guess I'll figure out how to work that out. I'll do anything for a chance to have my life back! I am 285 lbs. and 5'7". That makes my BMI 44.6!!!! How horrendous is THAT?!?! Soon, with a lot of work and learning to self-love, I can be healthy and super hot!!!! I know it sounds really bad, but I fully intend on going to my hometown's fireworks next 4th of July and strutting my stuff! How stupid will those mean kids feel then, HUH?!?!? ISSUES? yeah, I know. Which brings me to another point... I wonder what the psych evaluation is like! I am a major comfort eater. Seriously, I'm a bulimic who never gets around to the purging part! I hope that they don't refuse me! And now, for a little inspiration...

  4. haha. I'll try to keep it up! I don't have a date yet, I just called today and made my first pre-op appointment with the surgeon! I meet with him in two weeks, and am so unbelievably excited! It's becoming so real! How far along are you in your journey? Any advice for a potential bander?
  5. I totally agree with you. That's why I was so surprised when I started to panic about getting thin! And Target is HORRENDOUS about the plus size clothing thing, aren't they?!
  6. ... Afraid that once they're thin, they'll be invisible??? Sounds like a shrink might be needed, huh? I just feel like being the "fat, funny girl" is so much a part of my identity, and I never realized it until now. Does/Did anyone else feel like this??? :confused2:
  7. Thank you! I've actually been following your journey, and you're an incredible inspiration! You have come so far, you must be so proud of yourself!
  8. Hey Everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself! I've been a "lurker" on here for quite some time, and decided to finally take the plunge! I'm making an appointment for my first pre-op consult this afternoon! I wanted to thank everyone for their amazing honesty on this board!!!!
