  3. My thoughts exactly. I'd rather not go under the knife again which is why I'm 99% sure I'm going to pursue bypass.
  4. I'm in the same boat. I was leaning towards sleeve but now am starting to consider bypass instead. My GERD is not mild and I take meds for it. I still have break-through GERD even with the meds, coughing, hoarse voice, and just a generally raging inferno from hades in my throat at any given time. I also have sleep apnea and high blood sugar. To me, the bypass seems like it might be best. I have my first consult in May, so we'll see what the doc says...

  6. I was originally leaning towards the sleeve, but I've been doing a bit of research and the bypass sounds like it might be a better fit for me. I have GERD (have for years) and this may sound odd, but I like the idea of the possibility of dumping as negative reinforcement. I have a sweet tooth, so I think this could act as a good deterrent to sweets. However, I also have depression and anxiety that I take meds for. My depression has been in remission for many years because the meds I take work really well for me. One is XR, so I'm very concerned that having bypass could throw me into depression again, which I don't want! Anyone else deal with having to make a choice like this?

  8. Sounds like more paperwork LOL. Did you have to complete intake forms for every appointment you went to or do they have all of that info from the original packet? I'm gonna have hand cramps and carpal tunnel by the time this is all over.

  10. YAY! How many psych appts did you have to go to? The lady I spoke to on the phone said that my insurance was good, and I might even be looking at surgery this summer!!!!!
  11. Park Nicollet called!!!! I'm scheduled the first week in May :-/ (can you tell I'm not very patient??) I'm nervous about the psych eval. I have a history of depression and some binge eating episodes (haven't had a full out binge in several years) that I hope doesn't get in the way.

  14. Did you have to go to a lot appointments? Does their program require a lot of visits with a dietician? My insurance only requires 2.... But I know all the programs are different. Sorry for all the questions!!!

  17. Thanks!. My primary care doctor is Healthpartners and he put in a referral to them, I sent in a packet but I haven't heard anything in over a week. How long did your process take? How many appointments? I was considering Abbott too.
