  1. I had a slight unfill of .5cc on 12/23 due to acid reflux nightly. On 1/2, I ended up in the ER due to the same problem and I couldn't even drink water and was getting dehydrated. They did a barium swallow and I was swollen but the band was fine. I was upset about the unfill. I just got 3cc put back in on 1/13. I am not at the level where I was before which was 5cc. During the 2 weeks with the unfill I felt better but I did put on 4 lbs since the ER visit! UGH!!!. I am hopefully getting back on track. I worked to hard for the weight to creep back on.
  2. I have been banded for 11 months. My last fill was in Sep. I felt all the symptoms of being tight. I didn't know better. I thought that PBing was normal once in a while. In Jan. I had .5 cc taken out of my 5.25cc that were in my 10cc band. I felt so much better. This past week I have been so tight that last Friday I was going to go to the emergency room since all day I couldn't hold anything down even liquid. After 2 days of liquids and soft foods I felt better. Well this week I didn't get a full night sleep. As soon as I went into a deep sleep I had to throw up or was coughing for over 1 hour. I was not able to drink the amount of liquids that I should be taking in on a daily basis. I was miserable. Well after having lunch today I really felt like I had enough....chicken and mashed potatoes, that didn't even stay down. I call my dr. since I didn't want to have another night of no sleeping. He had me come right in to the office. I was telling him all the problems I was having this past week and he took out all of my fill and I had to have a chest x-ray done to make sure I didn't slip. I felt so much better immediately. I am now not allow to get a re-fill for another month. I am so scared after being restricted for 10 months and not feeling hungry. I worked so hard to lose this 75 lbs. I don't want to gain it back:scared2:Sorry to vent, and thanks for any advise!
  3. Hi, I was banded by Dr. Cerabona on 6/3/08. I want to tell you that you are going to the best. Please feel free to PM me . I would be more than willing to help you in any way. I have lost 73lbs as of today and have 10 more to reach my goal! My daughter (17)was also banded by Dr. C on 7/6/08. She is down about 30 lbs since surgery. I love my band and I love Westchester Medical Center and the Practice that gave me a new life!
  4. I have had hypothyroid for the past 20 plus yrs. The April before my surgery (6/3/08)I found out that I need to go on a higher dose of synthyroid 1.75. Of course I was waiting for my PCD to tell me not the dr. who my surgeon sent me to for clearance. I followed up after my surgery with my PCD and he up my dose and it has been fine. I lost 70 from the day of my surgery I have more energy and have been walking/jogging 1 1/2 miles a day. I am so glad I have this wondeful tool. I have to say I love my band!!!!!
  5. i was concern about this also. I am a stomach sleeper. Since being banded in June 08 I have been on my stomach sleeping with no problem. I don't feel the port at all. I can't remember when I was able to go on my stomach after surgery but I am sure it was within a few weeks.
  6. I am interested in it please let me know if it is still for sale. Thanks, Let me know how to get intouch with you! Lisa
  7. My self and my daughter were also banded 4 weeks apart. I went in June 08 and she in July 08. She was 16 1/2 yrs old at the time. I did alot of research before our surgeries. I have lost 60 lbs since June! I am very glad I did this and was very psych to start this journey. I have another 20 to reach my goal. However, My daughter is losing much slower, She has lost a total of 20 lbs since July. I am very happy for her since she coulod be going the other way on the scale like she has been doing for the past 5 yrs. We have done everything to get this weight off of her...Fat camp 3x during the summers and lost alot of weight but to only come home and put it on and some. the money I spent at camp I couod have paid for her surgery back than. Thank Godness my insurance paid for both of us. They only problem I find is that there is no support for the teenagers in my dr.'s office. We were going to the support groups but she wasn't getting anything out of it. She felt that everyone could be her mother or grandmother in the group. I am trying to get her to find someone that she can connect with for support. None of her friends know she did this, and again it is none of anyone's business. I try telling her to go on this site for support which I found to be addictive to. I love this site for all the inspiration and support it gives me on a daily basis. Where do you live? Hopefully they can connect.
  8. Hey Lisa, Just got your responds today...a week later! Weird. I am glad to have met you at the meeting. Don't ask me about eating. Since I have 6 cc in my band I am pretty restricted. For example today I had for: B Protein Shake S Half of nut cluster peanut bar L 1/2 cup of soup Bean S 2 cracker barrel snack stix with 2 ritz crackers oh a a scoop of cchip cookie dough UGH! D 1/2 fish and 2 bits of acorn squash I am so full right now. I would say go for the veggies for now since Iam having a very hard time with that and fruit. Some days I can and others I can't I am sort of worry about tomorrow since I get nervous around family. But I am starting to get over that feeling. I just don't want to get to stuff and have to get rid of it. Have a happy Thanksgiving and lets keep in touch. E-mail me if you would like
  9. Welcome Mike, I was banded on June 3rd by Dr. Cerabona just like lipstix64 I live in Westchester County. I have to say this was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I am down 50 lbs and have 30 more to reach goal. I was as scared as everyone else before surgery. Now that it has been 5 months, I should have done this years ago. I go on this sight nightly for my daily support. This sight is so informative I am glad I have this group for continued support. Good Luck
  10. Yes i am interested in attending. Will you be having any speakers for the young at heart?...... My daughter and I both had it done and she is 17. I would love for a group speaker for the teenager-mid 20 year olds. It is hard to find a support group for them. Also, we would love it in NYC. We would only come to the Saturday conference due to work and school. Please keep us inform on cost etc
  11. dr. felding at NYU. I had my surgery done at WMC in valhalla with dr. cerabona.....the best!!!!!
  12. I have hypothyroidism. I have been struggling with my weight since my 20's when I ended up with this diease. Every diet was a struggle. Since my surgery on 6/3 i have lost 20 lbs! I am very excited with the lost. I hope it will continue!
  13. I have had hypothyroid since my early 20's. I have been on synthyroid since I was diagnosed. Right before my surgery which was 6/3 I had to go to the endoronologist from the surgeon's check off list. and my thyroid TSH was higher and the endocronolgist wanted to up my synthyroid. I was afraid to change my meds until after my surgery. My reg. MD has been regulating my thyroid for years and I will check with him in another month. I wasn't denied for having hypothyroid you need to make sure you have your primary care dr. write a letter stating that you have tried everything to lose weight...pills, WW, Nutrasystem, DR. Diet. etc. Good luck, I am sure that everyting will work out!
  14. Hi, I was banded on 6/3 by Dr. Tom Cerabona from Westchester Medical Center. He is he chief of Bariatric Surgery. He was wonderful. His office is right in the medical building near the Medical Center. His office staff treats you like you are VIP. Every 2 weeks there is a support group you can attend at 6pm for $10. There is one this Thursday. Dr. Cerabona also did my 16 1/2 yr old daughter on 7/8. We are both doing this journey together. When you find out how to change your ticker please let me know. I am getting very fustrated. Maybe I will see you at a support group. Lisa
