  1. Do it! I have similar stats as you do! I was 195 when I got my surgery in Mexico on 4/27 and am down 20 pounds at 175! I know that starting at a lower weight will result in slower losing, but I am 100% happy with my decision! Now that I’m on solids I realize how much my sleeve will help! I’ve dont every diet lost and found a million pounds and I feel confident that this will be the end of that! I can eat a little and feel full and satisfied! I crave better foods because I know I can’t eat a lot and I want to make sure my body gets what it needs! I am madly in love with my sleeve!!
  2. I started soft foods on week 3.... it was the bessstttt!! I was so tired of soups and shakes!! I now eat cottage cheese, scrambled egg, ricotta bake... I feel a million times better!!

    Anyone doing medical tourism?

I had mine done in Tijuana at a different place... you’ll have a great experience! I’m almost 2 weeks out (tomorrow) and feel great! I had surgery on Friday evening and was back at work (high school teacher) on Tuesday. Easy peasy!

Getting the Sleeve with a 35-37 BMI?

My BMI was 33 when I went to Mexico and got the sleeve on April 27. I had the lap band for about 7 years and I wish I had just gone with the sleeve the first time around! If I were you - I’d just go ahead and get the sleeve... I mean if weight is an issue and yo-yo dieting is part of your life, get the sleeve and take care of it! (5’5 was 195 at time of surgery and 41 years old)

    May 14th

Y’all are going to do GREAT!! The anticipation is MUCH worse than the actual surgery!!! Let me put it in perspective: I’m a 41 year old high school teacher...BMI of about 33 (I had it done in Mexico)...I had surgery on a Friday evening and was back at work and totally fine on Tuesday!! Y’all are going to do great!! Be excited!!!!!!!!!!

    New sleever

What app is that?? I can never find one that calculates net carbs!!

    Any teachers?

You’ll be fine! It’s time to get excited! I’m also at the lower end of the BMI (I went to Mexico because I wouldn’t have been approved here) and I’m 41. I feel even better today! It’s crazy to think that less than a week ago I was getting the sleeve and I’m already back to work and feeling fine - but that’s what’s happening! It blows my mind!

    Any teachers?

I had my lapband removed and sleeve on the same day. It has been much easier than anticipated. I feel even better today! Don’t worry - you’ll do great!

    Any teachers?

I teach high school English and I JUST had my sleeve on Friday evening (4/27). I was back at work today (5/1) and had no problems. I was moving a little slower, but I feel great!
  11. My mom and I will both be sleeved - will anyone else be there at the same time?

    Recovery Time

I’m have surgery on a Friday and hope to be back to work on Tuesday. I’m a teacher so I have planned around it (things that I don’t have to be up and moving around TOO much... hope I can do it)
  13. I’m going to Jerusalem Hospital - Dr. Betancourt... I just started liquids today! I’m already hungry! [emoji23]
  14. We have exactly the same stats!! I get sleeved in Mexico on 4/27!! Also, I will add that I have the lap band and feel it didn’t give me the results I expected. I’ve had the band about 5 years and will be sleeved in like 9 days!! Yay!! I can keep you posted on weight loss!

Lapband removal and RNY in May

My mom is also getting the sleeve...neither of us are tremendously overweight...she is battling diabetes as well - I wonder if that is a better option for her as well ?!?

    Compression/slimming shirts

They definitely make things seem less “jiggly” lol! Definitely worth a shot!

Lapband removal and RNY in May

I am a band revision patient as well (or I will be on 4/27) and I am going with sleeve. Did I make the right choice? Just wondering what made you guys go from band to RNy?

    Any short sleevers?

My sister is 5ft even! She was sleeved 4 years ago...she weighed more than you (I don’t remember how much)...she got down to about 112 (which she looked WAY too thin) and has put some weight back on...she’s holding steady at 135 and she looks great at that weight!!

    Compression/slimming shirts

Yes! They go under your clothes - like Spanx for men! In fact, I think Spanx makes things for men now as well! I love my Spanx - they just kind of smooth everything out!

From 470 to 235 (with photos)

Woah. Great job! You look great!!!
  21. I will be sleeved (losing band and getting sleeve) in about 11 days and I’m SUPER curious to see what and how much you guys are able to eat and at how long out from surgery! I’m obsessed with knowing how much a little stomach can hold!
  22. teacherlady095

    Pics of meals/portions PLEASE!

Thank you! That seems like a normal portion! In my mind - I’m imagining the ability to eat less than that!! That seems like it’s plenty of food, but not too much! (Which is how I should be eating anyway!) So are you pretty stuffed after 2 eggs and a pita??
  23. teacherlady095

I sucked it up and bought it

I have one and I LOVE IT!!! There are 2 sizes (7 inch and 9 inch)... I didn’t measure my toilet and got the 9inch which was a little too deep a squat [emoji23][emoji23] so I ended up getting the 7 inch! Both are great!!!
  24. teacherlady095

    Yay

I’m guessing since they’ve lost weight they’ve gone from “obese” to “overweight.” If that’s the case, CONGRATS!!![emoji324][emoji898][emoji322]
  25. How was it??? Was it done in 1 surgery? I’m scheduled for revision (1 surgery) on 4/27! I’m so ready to get this thing out!!
