  1. Hi I was referred by my doctor and my BMI is 36 & I only have one comorbidity. I have been approved for surgery & have a surgery date of April 9th. My doctor has even required me to lose 10% which will drop my BMI to around 34 & will still go through with surgery. Depending on your insurance to get approved for surgery your BMI should be 40 & over. If you have a lower BMI some insurance require one or more comorbidity.
  2. Hi. I just had my consult with the surgeon. He gave me a surgery date of April 9th & like you told me I would have to lose 10% before surgery. I’m also at a low BMI of 37 & losing 10% would bring me to 33-34BMI. That will not affect the insurance as my insurance already approved of the surgery at 38BMI but my surgeon won’t give me surgery unless I lose the 10%. Once your approved, you’ll be okay.
  3. I’m in SoCal & with kaiser. I just had my consult with the surgeon. He gave me a date for April 9, 2018 but I need to lose 18 pounds before i see him again March 29 or he will be canceling my surgery. Stressed about this because it seems impossible to lose that much in just 2 months. Any tips?
