  1. I have a total of 10.25 in my 14 cc band and have restriction. Some days are worse than others and I even cancelled tomorrow's appt. knowing I did not need anymore at this time. I am 10mos. post surgery (4/23/08) and have lost 50lbs, the majority of that has come off in the past 6 mos. once I hit 7+ cc's on fills
  2. I understand your pain. I got a fill last week (the first in 6 weeks) of 1 cc bringing me to 9cc in a 14cc band. Eating has been tough, somedays better than others. Yesterday was awful, everything that went in came right back out. So I ended up not eating anything all day. Today has been easier, was able to keep some breakfast down, just taking it slow and easy. I don't think I need an unfill yet, but will keep an eye on things and stay aware. Good news is I am down 5 lbs since the last fill a week ago, after not having lost anything in a couple of months.
  3. I had surgery @ 1:00 and on my way home by 5:30. I am very glad I did not have to stay, felt good to relax in my own bed.
  4. I still have my vodka and juice, I have just substituted the sugarery juices with Crystal Light. This way my calories are limited to the alcohol only. I also have not noticed it affecting me anymore than wtihout the band.
  5. I had my 14cc band put in on 4/23. Had a fill yesterday and am now up to 8 cc's. I started feeling some restriction @ 7.5 so yesterday's fill was only .5 cc's. We will see how this goes, I have another fill in two weeks only if I haven't lost between 3-4 lbs, if I have then they said to return in 3 weeks.
  6. I had a 14cc band put in on 4/23 and this past week had my 4th fill, I am now up to 7cc's and feeling it a little finally. I have had to really pay attention to my chewing and speed of eating. I have had a few "stuck" moments this past week so just trying to be more aware. Still get hungry between meals so I assume on the 19th they will go with another .5 to 1 cc fill. It is a slow process with such a big band but to me I feel it is giving me the chance to adjust as well as the band.
  7. I had my lapband on 4/23 at Madigan and it has been a great experience. I too was not considered severely obese but am on medication for blood pressure which automatically made me a candidate. I am now down 20 lbs and hopefully will start losing more as I got my 4th fill yesterday and am now up to 7cc's in a 14cc band. I feel a little more restriction with each fill (1cc every two weeks) but not quite at the point of a 2lb a week loss, so until I get to that point they will continue to give me fills. They are very conservative about fills at Madigan, therefore if you live any distance and it is a problem making it out there every two weeks than I can understand it being a problem. I am blessed with the fact that I am a government employee on Ft. Lewis and my husband too works at Madigan as a civilian, so always a reason to be out here.
  8. I am not much of a red meat eater, however not too long ago I tried a piece of steak and had the very same experience, what went down immediately came right back up, so I have come to the conclusion that red meat is just not for me. Thankfully it is something I usually stay away from anyways so no problem for me. I have also found bread and white rice are very hard for me to tolerate so I have definetly keeping those to a very minimum as well. Had a fill yesterday and the PA said that those are three things most banded people should avoid anyways.
  9. I was banded on 4/23/08 and have had 3-1cc fills for a total of 6 cc's in a 14cc band. I don't feel any restriction but I haven't gained any weight, just trying to wait out this journey to finding my sweet spot. I go tomorrow for another fill. My doctor is very conservative and will only do 1cc at a time but he allows me to go every two weeks till we get to the right spot. Will keep everyone posted.
  10. I had a 14cc band put in on 23 April and am up to 6cc's on my fills, with little to no restriction. My doctor is conservative and will only do 1cc a visit every two weeks till you get to where you need to be. So hopefully soon I will feel the restriction everyone talks about. I go for my 4th fill on the 29th.
  11. I was back at the gym at about 10 days post op. No weights just some cardio. My doctor made me wait till my 6 weeks post op to do anything strenous, but I got all the cardio in that I could during that time.
  12. I have had 3 fills so far with no issues at all, and they are being done each time by one of two nurses on staff. I was told though my port is an easy find which I knew since I feel it all the time. They always have me lie on my back and lift my head, they feel for the center of the port and then stick and only once did they have to pull out and stick again. I don't have a problem with needles which I could see being a problem for alot of people, I grew up getting weekly allergy shots so needles are no issue for me. I had my lapband surgery on 23 April and have not actually met face to face with the doctor since my 2 week post op and the nurses are just awesome and so friendly and informative. Once again my whole journey I feel like I have been blessed. I will say this weeks brought me up to 6cc's and I have felt a little restriction this go around, maybe my next fill on the 29th will be my "sweet" spot.
  13. I was glad to read your post. I had my 3rd fill on Tuesday, another 1cc, now I am up to 6cc's. Did not feel any restriction till last night. Every bite I took of my dinner got stuck and I had to throw up to get it unstuck, so after doing that twice I just stopped eating. Never felt hungry and it is already 8:00 am and I haven't had anything but coffee this morning. When I do feel like I need something I will go with a protein drink and slowly go back to food. Maybe I am almost at my "sweet spot" that would be nice since I haven't lost weight since the two week post op liquid diet, but good news is I haven't gained either, which is very good. I go for another fill on the 29th, maybe another 1 cc and I will be at my magic number.
  14. I was banded on 4/23 and have had 2-1cc fills. My doctor assured me he banded me with no fluid but when I went for the first fill and they did a fluid check I apparently had 3 cc's in the band already. Asked how that happened and no one could tell me. So now I am up to 5cc's and not feeling any restriction yet. Anyone else have this large of a band, and if so when did you start feeling restriction. I am going on Tuesday the 15th for my 3rd fill, however my doctor seems to be a bit conservative and I am not expecting any more than his usual 1 cc. I appreciate any ones insight, only because my band seems so much bigger than the majority of ever one.
  15. I must have a very conservative doctor. I went yesterday for my 2nd fill and was hoping for at least 3 cc's but was told I would only get 1 cc, that is all I got on my 1st fill as well. However, when I got my first fill they did a fluid check and there was 3 cc's in the band and the doctor told me he banded my with nothing. So, technically I am up to 5cc's in a 14 cc band. Not sure if I feel any different yet but I do go back in two weeks for another fill, good thing my doctor is so close to where I live and work.
