I was banded on May 8, '06 and haven't had a fill yet, not sure if I want/need one. My surgeon said to return whenever I want a fill!! Anyway, I have a bad taste in my mouth all the time. I keep brushing my teeth and it doesn't help. Sometimes my tongue is white. I get food "stuck" real easy, even on cottage cheese, but I've never thrown up or needed too. I just sits there sometimes from 8 am until the next morning. When I wake up I'm all cleared up. I'm thinking this may have something to do with the breath. I went to my PCP and she ordered an upper GI for me. I need to wait for the approval, not sure how long that will take. :nervous Does this sound familiar to anyone? Hi! I had my surgery on May 8 of this year. So far I've lost 63 pounds. Next week I'll be a "young" 61. My doctor will only do the lap band surgery for people under 60, so I just made the cut-off. Before going to her, I never thought of a cut-off age. If you get it done, good luck to you.

I hope someone answers this becasue a few nights ago I woke up with terrible abdominal pain that went all the way to my back. I now notice that my port does not feel the way it has in the past. I go for my 1st fill next week.

WOW! I think you hit it on the nose. I looked up ketosis and everything it says sounds like what I'm doing. I'll be upping my calories as of today and see if it goes away in a week. Thanks so much for the excellent advice/information. Laura

I eat a banana in the morning and when I'm ready to swallow I just put the pill in my mouth and it all goes down together. I take 4 different pills in different sizes and shapes and it works out just fine.

I stayed over night and I had to be there at 6:30am, so I wore a housecoat...very comfortable.

Oh my gosh, how scary! I'm glad that you recovered fast and that your pressure was normal. I wonder what it was? Keep us posted.

I take 4 pills and all different sizes. What has worked for me is that when I'm eating and am ready to swallow I pop the pill in my mouth and it goes down with the food.

Hi, my pouch just stings, sometimes during the night when I turn or move during the day. Not sure if it's normal. I haven't had a fill and won't until June 27. I am 5 1/2 weeks out. Should I call the doctor?

Let me ask this...when I swallow, say a pill and it gets stuck, I feel it in my throat. Is that where everyone else feels it? It just seems funny to me that if it gets stuck and doesn't go down to the opening in my stomach, then there is something wrong with my throat. I've never brought anything back up like slime everyone experiences. I'm just eating small meals and chew a lot. :nervous :nervous :nervous :nervous

3loves, I found a solution to swallowing my pills; I take five a day. I'll have maybe a banana, crackers or something else and when it is chewed and mushie and I'm ready to swallow I then put the pill in my mouth and it goes down smoothly with the food.

Thanks, DrC The other thing that bothers me is that my doctor put the port incision right on my waistline. I've had to take the elastic out of all of my slacks, just so they don't irritate it. (just blowing steam)
