  1. For chicken/turkey/etc. - there are lots of pre-cooked options to buy once you're eating real meat. Trader Joe's has some excellent things in their frozen section. When you're in the "mush" stage, I couldn't cope w/ putting meat in a blender. I just carefully chewed tuna (in pouches) and canned chicken until it was mush. Eggs are another great protein source once you're past your restriction weeks. I thought I would miss straws, but I really don't. Maybe I'll try them in a few months?
  2. The pureed stage was kind of annoying! 1/4 cup-3 ounces is right about where I was, depending on the food. Some days I could do a little more, some less. I ate a LOT of packets of tuna fish!! Not exactly pureed, but I chewed it forever. I had lots of Greek yogurt (most of the time I couldn't finish the 5 oz. container).
  3. I was 321.8 on 11/9 (HW) 302.6 on 11/20 (SW) 243.4 today (CW, 10.5 weeks after surgery, down 78.4# total so far) I seem to be losing faster than average. I healed quickly and was only off work for a week. My first week after surgery I lost about 9 pounds. I was down 30 pounds the first month after surgery. I stick to my diet, log every single thing, aim for 90g protein and <40g carbs every day right now. How are things going for you?

    November sleevers here

I'm a bit of a lurker! I love reading posts and getting tips for various stages, etc. HW was 321.8 10 days of pre-op SW was 302.6 (November 20) CW is 243.4 (down 78.4 total) I'm a little nervous because it seems to be coming off quicker than expected. And I don't want flabby skin everywhere (though.... it's inevitable). But, it's also pretty motivating to keep on going every day. I get about 90g protein/day, about 900 calories/day (trying to aim for that, some days are less). Carbs are about 40g or less. I walk on the treadmill 40 min/day. Sounds like that's just about where we all are in terms of cals/protein/carbs?
  5. I'm following your path pretty closely! I was just going to post a little update. HW: 321.8, SW: 302.6, CW: 254. My pre-op was only 9 days, I was sleeved on November 20 -- so I'm just more than 8 weeks out from surgery, 67.8 pounds down total. It freaks me out a little to lose this fast (because when it slows I'm going to be all kinds of anxious that it will stop), but I'm also loving it, too. Motivation comes easy when the numbers drop on the scale! I've been at this weight for 3 days, hoping to see a little drop tomorrow morning. How many calories/carbs/proteins are you getting, out of curiosity? I'm usually a little under 800 cal and I get at least 85g of protein a day. Try to keep my carbs around 30g - but always wondering if that should be lower? My NUT isn't super specific. Keep up the good work!!

    Help! Office Potluck!

I'm guessing it's this recipe. Super tasty and easy, but a lot of sugar. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/239824/grape-jelly-meatballs/

    Help! Office Potluck!

Go figure I never even saw that at the bottom of the recipe! I just did the calculations based on the ingredients I used (looking each one up - thankfully there aren't many!) and dividing by the number of meatballs it actually made (I didn't get quite 24).

    Help! Office Potluck!

I was sleeved on 11/20 and we just had our potluck last Friday. I brought buffalo chicken meatballs. I could eat 1 and a half. The rest went like wildfire. They're not overly spicy and I plan to bring them again to family Christmas. For 2 meatballs, I calculated 173 cal, 15 g protein, 14 g carb, 1 sugar and 5 g fat. https://damndelicious.net/2014/04/30/slow-cooker-buffalo-chicken-meatballs/

    4 weeks post op

I'm 3 weeks out and I can eat about 2-3 oz per meal if we're talking food (tuna, soft chicken, beans, etc.). If it's thicker liquid (soup, yogurt), I can tolerate 4-5 oz. If it's water, I can do more than that.

    November sleevers

Sleeved on 11/20, came home last night. Feel much better in my own bed and moving around my house. The gas pressure is real! Burping all the time. Working on my liquids and just a tiny bit of protein today. Still feeling very bloated! Little by little I’ll get there.

    November sleevers

It's high protein, very low sugar, very low carb, low fat. I can do all protein shakes (every 2-3 hours) or I can have shakes for snacks and then 2-4 oz lean protein and non-starchy vegetables at "meals". It's a lot like what I'll be eating around 4-6 weeks post op, I believe? This part won't be fun, but it helps that I have a goal in mind and a surgery date. (The last 2 days before surgery are liquid only.)

    November sleevers

Just found out today that I'm tentatively scheduled for Monday, 11/20. Went through my pre-op today and have all my final appointments tomorrow afternoon. Kind of scrambling! Expecting a "liver shrinking diet" beginning tomorrow - advice welcome! Ordered a couple protein shake options on Amazon. Single mom, 42, 2 teenagers, BMI right at 50
