Hydration quesrion
Anyone having a hard time feeling and staying hydrated during the first week or so post op? I’m constantly thirsty and these little sips I have to take are no quenching my thirst. Water seems to give me the most trouble with air bubbles. I get most of my water intake in the form or peppermint tea. I want to chug a bottle of water so bad. Someone suggested ice. Any other suggestions?

7 days 20lbs feel like dancing.
I don’t own a scale so I haven’t weighed myself since before the vsg. Visiting my mother and decided to give hers a whirl. 20 whole pounds. Gone. I cried a little. That’s amazing. I remember working out and eating like a bird for months and only being able to shift my weight 7lbs. This is such a breakthrough. I don’t see if much in my tummy area, I feel the same. But my ankles wrists and fingers are definitely slimmer, and my little chubby chins are practically gone. So I’m counting it as a win. YAY!

That sounds like a plan. There’s a nyc page that I posted on a week ago but it would be nice to get the commuter crowd!

Honestly with how finicky these sleeves are it could have been anything. Glad it wasn’t painful though. I tried to eat some mashed sweet potato too soon (2 days ago) and was in so much pain. But I ate the beans yesterday and I was fine. It changes day by day what the sleeve decides it wants to handle. So I think giving it a week will probably help. Sending you good vibes!

Soft/puréed today!
As I roll into week 2 I get to expand my food horizons. My uncle made his famous southern style Butter beans and I decided to give it a go. My little pouch was happy! No upsets! I decided to use a baby spoon to eat. Which helped keep the eating portions down. I ate 4 tablespoons! (Small victories) please feel free to send your favorite soft foods. I cannot wait to finally be able to have an egg tomorrow!
- Started purée/soft today!

I agree with who responded earlier. You should probably just air your concerns to your dr. Unless you are allergic they will most likely have you on Dilaudid (sp?) which did wonders for me. I was in almost 0 pain right out the gate, then as it wore off they gave me Tylenol every 4 hours and liquid oxycontin only when requested. Most of my pain after waking fully up came from gas so I got up and walked it off. Which in my opinion works wonders. I haven’t done much moving around since I’ve been home and I’m positive that’s why I’m having gas issues now. You also kinda have to go into this knowing you’re gonna be I some pain and it’s gonna suck but it’s all a means to an end. If possible try to take a BM the night before or morning of surgery. Because the anesthesia will probably back you up a bit. If they give you a stool softener, USE IT. Do not skip it. I have heard some poop horror stories. I genuinely wish I could transfer my hospital experience to everyone who has this surgery. It was honestly a dream. Everyone was so nice. Pain was moderate at best. I went home the very next afternoon. I think your experience largely depends on the hospital you are going to. I don’t know if this will help or not but maybe look up reviews of your doctor or the hospital and see what other ppl have said of their experience. If you read the worse review and the best review your experience will in all probability turn out somewhere in the middle. that way you kind of know what to expect. Sorry this is so long! Sending you good vibes from New York!

You’re giving me hope. I’m def in the what did I do to myself phase now. Like I’m fine but also I want French fries but also I kind of never want to eat again. Warm things are fine for me. Peppermint tea is the only reason I’m not completely dehydrated. It’s the only thing that calms my tummy. the Gatorade G2 goes down terrible. Soup is ok but I think my definition of eating slow and my stomachs definition are two different things. I haven’t tried frozen yet. I may go get some popsicles this weekend. I’m so sorry about your hospital experience!!!! It’s a whole hospital you mean to tell me they couldn’t find any other drugs to put you on!? That sounds unnecessarily cruel. I’m glad you are feeling better!

Yeah I had no drainage, barely any pain and no nausea. Right now I am just suffering from loads of bloat and gas but it’s my fault because I haven’t been moving around as much as I probably should have. I’m going to go to the gym tomorrow and take a leisurely walk on the treadmill. 12oz! That’s amazing. My record right now is 8oz in an hour. And that was so hard. I miss food but I literally hate the way intake makes me feel. I have to remind myself to eat.

I second the heating pad! I didn’t use mine until I got home but I wish I would have brought it with me! They’re a life saver. Placing the warmth over your tummy helps with reflux and aids digestion

I didn’t even get staples! It’s so crazy how everyone’s procedure is so different. I got like this skin glue that dried down hard and then flakes off as you heal. My little bandages came off 2 days post op and I was able to shower and everything. Staples sound rough! Glad you got those out!
