  1. Thanks!! Congratulations on your impending banding!!! How is Truvia?? I don't use suger substitutes because of the after taste (I definitely don't use the artificial ones)..
  2. Thanks! I appreciate your suggestions!!! I'll look for the book tonight!!
  3. Thanks!!! I'll get on that right now!!!!
  4. So, I have a ways to go until I am banded (5 more months), but I wanted to start finding the essentials for the pre-op diet... I've seen posts about the Protein shakes and some great suggestions. What are some other things that I should start stocking up on to make sure I have everything planned and ready to go?? My surgeon requires 1 week of a high protein liquid diet, then Clear liquids for 1 day prior to surgery. Questions: Did you need any special meds, vits, or supplements? Since the Lap Band does not use malabsorption for weightloss, can I get all the nutrients I need from food alone or are supplements a necessity? How soon can you bathe and drive?? (I've seen conflicting times, I know it varies, but I want to see what the consensus is).. Can you see the port if you wear something form fitting or does this depend on a person's skin and muscle tissue? Thanks!!
  5. How would you rate the pain?? Was it excruciating?? I've just started my 6 month supervised weight loss... and I'm excited, but also very anxious.. I have a very low pain threshold!!
  6. Hey!!! I'm Tina... or Fav.. Which ever... I'm a 36 yo teacher and singer from Chicago..... I've recently started my 6 month medically supervised program... I'm excited about starting the process to changing my life... I've never really felt my weight until recently.. I have about 200 lbs to lose.. (CW 373.5)... I really don't look like I weigh that much, but I camouflage well! I'm tired of hiding behind the camo!! I was meant to be HOT PINK!!!! Congrats beginning your journey and your successes thus far!! Let's keep in touch!!!
  7. That's awesome!! I'm at the very beginning!! I'm excited though!.. Do you have any advice for me?? My major issue is that I miss a lot meals and now my metabolism is screwed up!!! The nutritionist has be doing 5 small meals.. and it's sooooo hard.. I feel like I'm eating too often!! LOL.. But I guess that's why she gets paid huh??!!! Congrats and blessings on finishing strong!!
  8. I am a 36 year old teacher from Chicago.. I started researching the Lap Band Surgery 3 years ago and stumbled upon this gem of a site!! I have to admit, I was a little overwhelmed by all of the info and left for a while.. But I'm back!!! I've decided to have the Lap Band surgery so that I can continue to enjoy a wonderfully bless and prosperous life! Only recently I have begun to "feel my size"... My knees are telling the story of all 365 lbs of me!! I am just being my 6-month supervised weight loss phase and I will definitely be a "frequent flier" on the board this time.. Congrats to all who are successfully navigating this life of overcoming obesity and food addiction... My prayers and support go out to you and especially to the NEWBIES and those of us soon to join the ranks of "The Banded Ones"...
  9. Hey!! I just started my 6-month supervised diet... I met w/ a wonderful weight loss specialist and dietitian. I'm excited to see how much weight I can lose before I'm banded. Good luck and stay encouraged!!
  10. Thanks for this.. I'm not married yet (will be soon, I hope!! )... and I plan to start a family almost immediately... One of my reservations with getting banded was the whole pregnancy issue...... do you know if banding causes any issues during pregnancy??
  11. To decide if I want to be banded... I've tried almost e'thing under the sun... haven't been able to lose steadily.. the main thing is hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance due to severe PCOS....I stayed up all last night researching and reading posts on this site.. Thank you guys for your openness and honesty.. I'm going to talk to my best friend tonight about what I want to do.. The hard part will be discussing this with my fam.. My cousin died from complications of a gastric bypass in Dec 2003 at 28 and another cousin died from heart related issues after a long stint on diet drugs in Dec. 07 at 32.. so.. this is real sore spot..and they don't think I have an issue with my weight (:rolleyes:yeah right!!) but I need to do something.. at the moment i don't have many health issues.. no HBP or Diabetes.. but lately I've had problems with circulation in my legs.. and it has me a little frightened.. I have a drs. appt in 2 days and I'm going to discuss this with her.. any insight, encouragement and/or advice would be greatly appreciated...
