  4. You’ll enjoy him. I’ve worked w/ him in the O.R. and he really helped me tremendously. And ultimately was one of my main reasons for choosing him. So far I’ve lost 30lbs. My weight loss was slow at first because I wasn’t hungry and I was so focused on my fluid and protein intake, but failed to get the calories needed. So I ended up meeting w/ my bariatric counselor and she helped me. Now my weight loss is back on the right track.
  5. I had my surgery on September 20th. My surgeon is Dr. Wright also. He’s amazing and an excellent doctor. You’re in good hands. He really cares for his patients. I’m excited for you!

  8. That’s wonderful! I had my surgery at CRMC and since I’ve worked w/ my surgeon in the O.R., he gave me incite on the surgery. So he referred me for the surgery. I also have share of cost Medicaid w/ Medicare. But nevertheless, depending on your insurance they’ll let you know how many nutrition classes you’re required to take prior to surgery. I also had to get surgical clearances from my pulmonologist, PCP, and get a psych evaluation. I wish you the best!

  11. Hey Shay, I'm in Tallahassee also. My surgery is next Wednesday. Is your surgeon local? If so, who's your doctor? I'm excited for you also!
  12. You are totally right about that. It's already a lot to go to my regular appointments w/ my neurologist in Gainesville. & when I have tests to do there it's really a lot. I had a brain shunt put in initially when I had my brain bleed, but it's since been removed. I have increased pressures in my brain which my neuro attributed to be likely an overflow of CSF fluid. & that's putting me at higher risk of another bleed. So overall I decided to go the surgical route because I've lost 120+lbs on my own, I just needed help getting over this plateau. And according to my neuro, getting off more weight should regulate my CSF fluids in my brain and will eliminate my chances of another bleed. I'm divorced, too. I've moved to Tallahassee only to be near family while I recovered from that near death illness, and since the city grew on me. Thank you for your prayers and I, too will keep you in my prayers.

  14. Ohh wow! My father and one of my sisters had lupus. I also heard, too everyone experience different effects from the surgery. I'm surprised I wasn't referred to Gainesville also because I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain bleed) 4 yrs ago and my neurologist is in Gainesville. And considering my past history that's why I was for sure thinking I'd be referred there. Nevertheless, Tallahassee it is. I'm having the gastric sleeve by the way. It'll be nice to have someone to keep in touch w/ as that I've only been in Tally for 3 yrs. Plus it'll be encouraging to have a local go-to for support.
  15. Every doctor's version of the liver shrinking diet will vary. So far I'm sticking to mainly the protein shakes and maybe a bar occasionally. I'm allowed to eat a meal. But to keep down on the logistics of measuring for now, I've selected from the approved list of frozen meals. All in all these beginning stages have been rough, but keeping optimistic that it'll get better by next week. [emoji4]
  16. Also, how have things being going w/ us so far?
  17. Hey!!! I'm having my surgery in Tallahassee. So far my liquid diet is going. Lol [emoji23] Just have to get used to this new way of eating. I have to just teach myself it's mind over matter. By the end of this next week, I know it'll be smooth sailing because I'll be coming up to my surgery the week after. Is good to know there's someone in my area on here.
