  1. Taking a break for a couple of days really helps. Then get straight back at it with 800 calories and as much water as you can. It seems to be a bit of a circle but seems to be working for me at the moment. I can't do much exercise except walking due to arthritis.
  2. I have an metal taste a lot of the time especially when I'm dry. I struggle now with eggs, they sit in my stomach and make me feel ill. I don't feel hungry most of the time, but when I do, I feel that I could eat a lot, but after a couple of ,mouthfuls I'm full. However, tonight I would have loved a bite out a Big Mac or zinger burger, though I'm sure it would have only been one bite.
  3. 262 in a bit of a stall at moment.
  4. I've picked up that some people take water tablets daily and wondered if this is something that their consultant has advised them to do, and what affect does this have on the amount of water they have to drink each day. I have really swollen ankles (have had for years) and although the weight is coming off, my fat legs and ankles remain the same and I wondered if it would help if I took water pills too?
  5. My taste buds have changed too. Everything tastes bland, like all the flavour has gone. Hope it comes back eventually.
  6. When I over eat I know straight away. A bit like when you eat too fast, you feel like you are going to die. Sometimes I have to make myself sick to get over it. I can only eat a couple of ounces at a time. Otherwise I too feel great, fit and well and enjoying wearing smaller clothes!
  7. This article might help Hitting a plateau or weight loss “stall” is common for just about everyone. While it’s certainly frustrating, it’s important to understand this is just temporary. The good news is weight loss plateaus usually happen after you have lost a significant amount of weight—so congratulations! During your post-op weight loss, the body will eventually need a ‘time out” to stabilize itself and adjust to your lower nutrition intake, smaller size and increased calorie burn due to exercise. It can happen at any time in your weight loss journey, but is particularly common 3-6 months afterbariatric surgery. Generally, stalls can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, even though you’re staying on track. Expect from one to three plateaus in the first year following weight loss surgery. WHY DO WEIGHT LOSS STALLS HAPPEN? You can blame your body’s metabolism— When you lose weight rapidly, you are losing lean body mass (muscle) and fat. Muscle plays a big part in the burning of calories by keeping your metabolic rate high, so you want to hold onto muscle and strive to build more! (This is one of the reasons we ask you to take in so much protein). A weight-loss plateau usually occurs when your metabolism slows down. Now that you’re thinner, the activities you’re performing may not be resulting in as much caloric burning. An increased metabolic rate is not the only reason for keeping muscle. You want to keep muscle so you can use them to exercise and burn even more calories. Weak muscles make exercise more difficult, so build muscle with strength training and cardio workouts. EIGHT TIPS TO OVERCOME BARIATRIC WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS AND BOOST METABOLISM 1. Increase the intensity of your exercise. 2. Weigh yourself less often. 3. Keep food journaling to ensure there are no negative nutrition issues creeping in. 4. Eat all that protein to help retain muscle, even in shake form. 6. Drink 64 ounces every day. 7. Sleep eight hours nightly and keep a set schedule, even on weekends. 8. Talk to your bariatric team during the plateau for an added level of support and guidance. KEEP IN MIND… If you are weight training, consider that muscle weighs more than fat; while you are building muscle, you are still losing inches (girth) even though if it isn’t reflected in pounds lost. USE YOUR SUPPORT NETWORK Remember there are several layers of people supporting you during your road back to good health: Your doctor Bariatric dietitians and nutritionists Family Friends Colleagues Live and online support groups. (They understand more than anyone!) If a plateau lasts more than a few weeks and you haven't contacted your bariatric surgeon yet, make an appointment for an ASAP visit to rule out any issues. Meanwhile, stay positive and celebrate how far you have come in a short time. This is a very brief traffic jam on your highway to success.
  8. I looked it up, I can get it on amazon. However, I don't have a problem with constipation. Fingers crossed!
  9. Sorry don't think it works like that ?. Perhaps when you get to where you want to be then you can relax and just live your life calorie free. ?
  10. I stalled at three weeks, then all of a sudden it started to move again, when I started to increase my calories. I'm at 5 weeks, and have lost a further 7lb since the 3 week stall. Somedays I lost 2lb and then the next day I put it back on!! Frustrating but getting there - it's like a game your body plays with you. I feel much better now but still hate meal times, couple of mouth fulls and food gets stuck. i struggle with protein and water and get depressed, but today I walked into a normal size dress shop and was able to try on clothes that fitted me! Also I've bough a Fitbit which is great as a food journal, exercise tracker etc., love it. Good luck everyone we will get there. Dont let yourself get demotivated. Fight back, and think positively xx
  11. You have been to hell and back, but now you have to try and relax and let things take their course - Why would you put weight on? It's not really possible while your hardly eating anything, you might stall but that's your body sorting things out. You will get there. I've had the same feelings as you, but it's slowly working. I've stalled a couple of times and it's made me depressed and panicky, but even when my weights not shifting, inches are! Try to only weigh yourself once a week otherwise the scales will take over your life my biggest problem is meal times, I struggle to eat more than an ounce at a time, if I do - It gets stuck, I feel sick and get a headache, I know I'm dehydrated, just can get the protein and fluids in!!! One day at a time,
  12. Not yet. Just a bit of walking. Going to start swimming in next couple of weeks.

  14. I'm not suppose to drink for 30 mins, before during and after but I can't eat without drinking as I can't swallow my food so I just take little sips. When I eat and for about 30 mins after, I feel ill - I'm hungry, but after a couple of bites i don't want it, I feel sick and get a headache. It takes me ages to eat anything. Weights going up and down like a yo yo, but slowly going down. However, my clothes are telling me that I'm losing more than the scales are showing. Im going on holiday in a weeks time to Sicily and I'm worried about how I will manage. ?
  15. When your over soft feeds Follow a low carb diet an eat fish, chickrn, lean red meat, port loin, lots of veg, seeds, beans, cheese, low fat yoghurt. I can't walk that far yet, trying to increase this, had a new knee last year so it slows me down.
  16. 32 days since op. Seen my doc yesterday, told me I don't need to eat just soft foods anymore. I've to eat normally 3 meals a day plus 2 small snacks (if needed). I've to count calories, eat high protein foods first, and stick to 800 calories. Treated myself to cheesecake to celebrate, 4 mouthfuls and I was done, but it was the first food that I quite enjoyed. Not really liking any food at moment and struggle to find anything I want to eat! Also have hit another stall! Probably not eating enough!
  17. I felt the same, didn't want to move or drink water. Had to force myself and only walked about the house for Five minutes at a time before I was desperate to sit down. I used a hot water bottle to help with the gas. Don't know why, but it helped. When I got to about 8 days I started to feel much better. I'm 30 days today, and so much better, have been on holiday, out for a meal and can go shopping. It will get better honestly. I still get discomfort, don't like food and have no appetite, I get grumpy and tired but have dropped 3 dress sizes and am starting to feel like a new person.
  18. Good luck and walk tall. We both know it's not "easy" probably one of the hardest things you can do. But hopefully this time you will maintain your goal forever.
  19. Listen to your body. If your tired - rest. Only do what you have to do, the rest can wait until your bodies ready.
  20. I don't have hot flushes anymore. Haven't since my op on 8th. Anyone else the same?
  21. Same here. Think I could go all day without peeing!!!
  22. sleeved on 8th. Just going from puréed to soft. Struggle with water and know I should drink more. Managing to eat around 800 calories a day, with 6 small meals. Don't have any desire to eat, food doesn't really interest me at moment. I sometimes get food stuck in my chest, before it goes down into stomach and I end if having to make myself sick as it hurts too much. No problems with food in throat though. Are you drinking water at same time as eating? That might cause it. Good luck and keep smiling x
