  1. Hey, I'm having my surgery on the same day as you! We can do this!
  2. Hey everyone, My name is Joe and I'm documenting my process via YouTube! I've uploaded a few videos that are mainly pre-op and currently on my 4th day of my liquid diet. I was hesitant to put my story out there, but the more I watched other people's online, the more I became inspired to tell my story. The videos I uploaded are here and hope that it can guide and inspire others:
  3. My psych evaluation was $795 but was covered 100% by my insurance as part of the weight loss surgery process.
  4. Wow, I feel the same way. I'm starting my two week diets, and basically had a last hurrah of food comas to last me to rapture. Now, I'm getting focused and the thought of the foods I used to eat and the amount is all gonna change. Just make sure you have a good support team. I'm also available to talk to personally if ya need to. Good luck! We're in this for the long run!
  5. I'm very grateful most of my work is offsite. However, I was told usually a 1-2 weeks would be adequate should I work onsite with clients. I say, if you have the time to do so and it won't strain you financially, take the time off. This recovery only happens once in your lifetime so why not take advantage of it and rest up?
  6. I live in Pasadena but have a car so I can commute anywhere within the SoCal area. I can meet you at a local Starbucks if you'd like! Let me know if it's still available! I start my liquid diet on the 11th so this would definitely help! -Joe
  7. Well, I just called my surgeon's office to find out that after my 6 month of dieting, drawing blood, multiple x-rays, and psych test that I'm approved for my Gastric Sleeve! I'm very happy and blessed. Long story short with me, I pursued surgery at age 21 when I was approved on accident from my mom's insurance that I was under. Years later, I went on multiple dieting programs that helped me achieve a weight loss of close to 200lbs. But from stresses of not being able to afford the programs and moving out-of-state, I gained it back. I feel blessed because I'm getting a second chance to take my life back. I'm also looking to start a Vlog of my process to help inspire others going through the same process. My surgery date is September 28th and ready to commit to the change needed.
  8. Sorry to hear about your struggles. Maybe consider doing a liquid diet for 2-weeks so you can bring the weight down a little. Don't give up, your journey is starting again even if it feels like it's getting delayed.
  9. Hey guys, so my surgery is later next month and have been doing my research for my liquid diet. I found these at Aldis and they were on sale for $1.67. They also have them at Vons, Food for Less and Kroger. I was wondering if this was a good shake for my liquid diet? Low sugar, low carb and high in protein was a reason I bought some.
  10. Thank you! Sent from my STV100-1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I'm having mine here in LA, at the Southern California Hospital in Culver City Sent from my STV100-1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. TMI I know but this is the LGBT forums. Have you found any issues with swallowing...protein? (yes, that) Are you unable to eat/drink for 30 min/1 hour afterward? I know this seems like a joke topic but honestly curious. I know I'll have to be careful after surgery before being active to avoid hernias so figured, a less aggressive sexual activity would be better. Thank you.
  13. Hey guys, I'm Joe and having my surgery done on September 28th here in California.
  14. Hey guys, I'm Joe and live in Pasadena. My surgery date is September 28th and pretty excited!
