  1. Hi Nip50: It's nice to talk to a southerner! I am Judie from Alabama. It's great to have an over 50 site just for us. I was banded on Feb. 26th. Can't believe the changes so far. I have lost 33 lbs. and feel so much better. Sounds like the folks on this thread are glad they were banded also. I just look forward to each new day! As I look in the mirror it is so amazing from week to week. My husband is liking what he sees, too. Wondering if there are any other Alabama Gals out there? Here is a quote I read about "learning": "There are three classes of people in the world. The first learn from their own experience-these are wise: the second learn from the experience of others-these are the happy; the third neither learn from their own experience nor the experience of others-these are fools". Author unknown This is a great thread! I'll be posting often.
  2. Hi Coltorismom: That shake sounds so good! Where do you get vanilla flavored whey? Is it like wheat germ? Could I just substitute vanilla flavoring? I was banded on Feb 26th. I am finding that each day is a great new day! Since going down 2 dress sizes, I am looking forward to buying new clothes, since I have been a 2X for so long. Did you have any post-op issues? I am a christian too, I am so glad to be a part of this group! Judie
  3. I cannot say enough about my lab band!:blushing: Everyday is a new day that I am so glad to be a part of. Time is the best thing on your side because you can see results each week:thumbup: Trying to decide if the lap band is for you? Ask yourself these three questions: (1) Am I happy the way I am right now? (2) Can I really be the person I want to be if I do not decide to make the necessary changes in my life? (3) Do I have any regrets in my life today? If you could change your mind today, what decision would it be?:rolleyes2: I leave you with this quote: "As the soil, however rich it may be, cannot be productive without culture, so the mind without cultivation can never produce good fruit". - Seneca

  5. Hi Linalion: I can assure you that my life has changed for the better!:rolleyes2: No, I do not regret getting banded. This is a life-changing comittment. I have no problems with the diet (now I am eating normal only very small amounts). Keep a positive attitude. That always helps in any situation!:blushing: Wishing you the best, Judie felizgal
  6. Gadumplin: Hello from Judie. Just have to have your mind made up for it. I have had my band for two months now. The best thing I ever did! Don't say it won't work! I lost 19lbs the first month. Then the next month 14 lbs. The main thing is to eat slowwwly, and exercise when you are able to, then sit back and see how amazing you will look and feel! Take care
  7. Hi Diane: I am so glad you have been approved now for the surgery! I also had to wait about 7 months until I got approved. Sounds like you needed to get all the answers anyway before the surgery. I too read all I could about the surgery and by the time I got approved, I was really ready mentally. It has made such a difference for me since the surgery two months ago. I am 33 lbs. lighter now and feel great! I had my first fill this past week. I am looking forward to buying new clothes soon! I wish you the best! Judie
  8. Hello Brandy: I lost 19 lbs my first month after the band. It was difficult for me when I was on the liquids for two weeks after the band. I felt like I was starving just on liquids. However, at week 4 my doctor said I could have a soft scrambled egg with cheese! I felt like I was cheating! Then after that I ate baby food. It was healthy and had lots of Vitamins. I managed to do o.k. and still was losing an average of 3 lbs. per week. Since then I am now into my second month with the band. I am still losing. I have found that while eating out to get my to-go- box when they bring my meal. That way I don't eat too much. I pack away most of my meal. The next day I split that into two more meals. So far I have done well on those smaller portions. Also it saves money! Good luck to you! Judie
