  2. Because the sleeve is so small, my doctor said if tou happen to swallow it, it could cause a blockage in uour sleeve. I chew gum because I've never had a problem with swallowing it.
  3. thanks for the insight
  4. I am 3 weeks post-op today. Just curious as to how mamy calories I should be getting at this point. I am getting all of my protein and liquids but am concerned my calorie intake is too much.
  5. Thank you for the encouraging words and Congrats on ur weight loss!!
  6. I was sleeved two weeks ago today. I am following my doctor's orders to a tee. I am only weighing once a week. I actually gained 2 pounds this week....seriously? I was so disappointed when I got on the scale this morning. If I wasn't following the orders exactly I could understand - BUT I AM. Helppppp!

  8. I had VSG on November 8th. The day of my surgery and the day after, I could not hold down even a sip of water. Of course, my mind started with the 'why did you do this to yourself" "this was an elective surgery". I did have to stay an extra night in the hospital but Praise the Lord I am home this evening the 10th. The pain in my stomach is there but bearable. When I drink water, it feels like it gets stick and burns, which then leads to vomiting. So, this evening I am working on a protein shake - gotta get 4oz per hour of liquids! I know each day will be better than the one before! So glad the surgery is over
  9. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday at 7am. I am so excited but I am not gonna lie to ya - the anxiousness is setting in. I am not so concerned about the procedure itself but coming home after. I am so worried I will have trouble getting in my liquids and protein. I know everyone's recovery is different but I just want to be able to do everything by the book. I am sure tomorrow I will be fretting a bit more. I am trying to stay busy but my mind seems consumed with the surgery and its aftermath right now. Looking forward to getting week one post up behind me!
  10. I am scheduled for surgery in 2 days (Nov 8). I am starting to feel anxious about coming home and being able to get my protein and liquids. Could someone post a menu sample of what you drank/ate and how often? I haven't been able to find a daily guide for week one. My surgeon requires 64 oz of liquid per day and 80-100oz of protein. Help?!?!? I am getting stressed!
  11. There are fruit based protein drinks available that are thinner and not milk based

  14. My surgery is also scheduled for November 8th and I also suffer with hypothyroidism. Actually, my thyroid levels have been out of whack for about 4 months and my doc keeps changing my dosage. Nothing changed but thyroid decided to give me fits! I have been very excited through this whole process - it ended up being 7 months from start to surgery- but now that I am 4 days away, I am starting to feel anxious. I know I am doing what is best for me and my health and ultimately my family; however, all of the "what ifs" have crept in. So, you aren't alone! We've got this! Tomorrow is a new day! Look forward to talking to you after our surgeries.
