    August Sleevers

Surgery was August 11, 2009 Highest weight 281 lbs. Day of Surgery 276 lbs Current weight 248 lbs
  3. I am 25 days post op and I hit a wall also. My surgery was August 11, 2009 and the first week I lost 26 lbs. The next week 2 lbs. Since the 2nd week nothing. My support group members told me to stop getting on the scale every day. They said that it was normal and that even though I was not seeing the scale move, I was probably losing inches. And my old pants are falling off, even my panties. Now after reading this post, I think it is normal. Thanks for asking the question because I was starting to feel like it was only me.

    100+ Pound Club

Hello, fellow 100+ pound members. I too am a member of your group. It has been many years since I weighed anything near "Onederland". There are many reasons why I have found myself here. The love of southern cooking, TexMex, lack of exercising, genetics (grandma weighed 400lbs.), etc. You get the point. Whatever the reason, I am here now and fortunately, I have been granted a reprive and I shall not waste it.

    ?10 days to shrink liver

I guess the liquid diet really is doctor preference. I had my pre-op appointment with my surgeon today. When I asked him about the 2-week liquid diet, he said no you don't have to do it. He did request that I do a liquid fast 48 hours prior to the surgery, but no special type of liquid diet. Good luck with the liquid diet and your surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery. See ya on the other side of "Skinnyville". :lol0:
  6. My surgery date is August 4,2009. On September the 4, 2008, when I attended the WLS seminar I was so excited. I just did not realize how long it would take to actually get the surgery. Madigan (MTF) requires all weight loss patients to go through what they call "The Pathway". It is a series of 6 educational classes plus about 3 meetings with the case manager and a psychological evaluation. Finally after attending all the meetings and appointments from February 2nd through May 1st. I was finally given the paperwork "Passport" to see the surgeon on May 15th. Unfortunately, after seeing the surgeon on May 15th, I still did not receive my surgery date, because he needed to consult with my gastroenterologist about my other medical problems. I returned to see the surgeon on June 15th and he finally scheduled my surgery for August 4th. YIPPEE!!!:scared0:

Finally after an 11 month process.

I had a small bowel resection years ago and it is was open, leaving an ugly vertical scar. The doctor is concerned there will be internal scar tissue from that surgery. While he has me open, he will remove my gall bladder also. He said, many sleevers develop gall stones after having the surgery and this will help to avoid another surgery so soon after the VSG.

    Breast and shoe size???

Thank you ladies. The breast HL (Hubby Love) does NOT want them to go anywhere, currently I am a 44DDD. If I drop to a D cup then I will be okay. And if the shoe size shrinks, yeah. But if not, oh well.

  14. Anyone ever been denied based on the psychological evaluation? If so, what kind of questions did the doctors ask? (cross-post in Gen. Discussion)

Anyone Denied based on psych eval?

Asking because I saw an episode of Big Medicine on TLC where they follow the stories of people who decide to get bariatric surgery. One of the ladies was denied based on her psych evaluation. The psychologist determined that she was not ready for the surgery. Rose being denied the surgery - Topic Powered by eve community

    Tricare

I went to my PCM on Friday, August 15, 2008, and the doctor asked me, "What can I do for you today?" My reply, "I want a referral to have Lap Band surgery!" My doctor said "Okay." and he immediately sat down and started typing the request. My first step towards the process. My appointment to see General Surgery at MAMC is Sept 4, 2008.

    Tricare problems

Has anyone been able to have the lapband procedure done at MTF?

    Tricare Approval

When you went through the pysch evaluation, what types of questions were asked?

    Tricare Approval

thank you so much for your response. Interesting that my GI surgeon already put in the request for me to have a sleep study done, because I told him that my husband complains about me snoring even though I am on my stomach. Around Sept or Oct '07 my PCM sent me to have my thyroid tested and my glucose levels all came back normal.

    Tricare Approval

I want LapBand procedure but I am not sure of the how the process works. Yesterday, I went to see my GI surgeon for another reason and I asked him if I could be a candidate for either procedure. He told me that gastric-bypass was definitely out, but he would send a message to the GI's that perform the surgeries and see if they would accept me as a LapBand candidate. Now, again I am unsure who would I need to go to actually get the ball rolling so that I can get the procedure. I am at Ft. Lewis so I would have the procedure done either at a MTF or somewhere in Seattle. Anyone have any ideas?
