I'm cash paying because of a low bmi, so I have found my surgeon and I am definitely getting sleeved in August. I had my consult, blood work, 1/2 dietician class, and my psych eval and EKG medical clearance is this Wed. Afterwards, one more visit with dietician and Dr and I'm on the books! I'm preop and scared too, although I dont have any allergy to antibiotics, except Septra, I am concerned about a leak because it can be life threatning. I'm sure if you were at risk your Dr would Not risk the surgery on you. The risk is minimal and it is imperative that you follow the instructions before and after to a T. My doctor has done 300 a year for the last 10 years with zero leaks and zero deaths. I hope you find comfort in that. You might want to talk to your surgeon and ask what if questions. Thank you for sharing your story. I am preop and I'm glad to see that if things do go wrong, it doesn't mean your going to die. My doctor is keeping me in the hospital for two days. My final straw was turning to A diabetic. I work in a hospital and I see what that dreadful disease does to people. I want to live life and my weight is on my mind every day. I am in California and I am also cash paying. In my area its 18,000 out patient and thats a deal here, as it goes for $25k. I feel concerned with being sent home on day 1 as well
