I was just banded yesterday and my incisions are super itchy today! Plus I have some pain and I think I am starting with the gas pains! It's been one long day! lol I'm just happy to be back at home, although it was kinda nice be helped out so much at the hospital!

i think some people have pains around the incisions and some don't.. That's what i take from reading people's posts. I do have some pain. I am thinking that i just might try the pain meds. My incisions also itch. I wonder if that's normal!?! Just survived giving myself my first shot so that's good news! lol Thanks everyone for the congrats! I just love this site and all the support you receive from everyone! :rolleyes2:

I am officially a bandster! I had my surgery yesterday and come home from the hospital today. I am feeling a little sore at the moment. I didn’t take any pain meds today for fear of them making me nauseous! I don’t have anti-nausea meds at home like they do in the hospital. It’s fine though. I think I am mange without the pain meds. I do, however, have to give myself a shot today. Haven’t done that yet so it could be interesting! It’s still hard to take deep breaths and I am using my little tool they gave me for that. (Can’t for the life of me remember it’s name now) I seem to be getting better at it so I guess that means things are looking up! I don’t have any gas pains but from reading everyone’s posts that seems to hit a lot on the 3rd day which will be tomorrow. I am hoping I won’t have to deal with that though!

I met with my surgeon on Wed and he said that I will be taking them for 10 days even though I am a low risk for blood clots. (He asked me some questions and then used a chart to determine that) He said that since he started having all his patients do the shots there hasn't been many blood clots. I think I can handle 10 days, no problem! Oh, I finally got a date set!! I go on the 15th for surgery. I am so excited!!

I have no history of blood clots and i don't take Coumadin or any other meds but the nurse who heads the program at the hospital said that I would have to take the shots. (i believe she said for 10 days after surgery) I don't think I will have a problem giving myself the shots I was just wondering if everyone had to take them prior to the surgery. I am one of the first people to have the lap band surgery at this hospital-they have only done the rouxen-y and i know things can be different between the two and sometimes they tell me things that only applies to the roux en-y. I wasn't sure if I had to take them seeing how I don't have the history of clots or anything. Thanks so much for your help!

I was just wondering how many people had to have lovenox shots after their surgery and how long you had to take them. Thanks! Jessica

It's going to be at Henry Ford warren campus. Dr. Marshall is my surgeon. Where are you going to be having yours done?

Congrats to you too! It is very helpful hearing what can be expected. I don't know anyone who has the lap band surgery done so it's nice to have a place where you ask questions and get helpful info! Good luck to you also!

I found out yesterday that I was approved for surgery and couldn’t be more excited! I don’t know when the surgery is going to be yet though-waiting on a call from my surgeons office.
