Deb, That is a grrrreat idea. Cash for chemo....I love it. I wish we had thought of something like that. I know how expensive chemo can be, my MIL is getting bills every day. I am glad you have made so much thus far. Good for you guys!!! I would shop from you in an instant....wish I was there. Have fun , and sell, sell, sell :tongue2:

Looking for opinions..... I went in for a fill Tuesday (not Dr K) and the surgeon told me that only eating 600-700 calories a day is fine. He said " people in concentration camps ate less than that and still lost weight" (On a seperate note I found that somewhat disturbing and inappropriate....not sure why... maybe it's just me???? :scared2:) He said that whole body going into startvation mode is just a wives tail. Any thoughts on this???? ********************************* Also.... Since the fill I have been gurgling in my throat when drinking water... I thought that meant you might be a bit overfilled...but I can eat popcorn. Go figure.

Hmmmmm.... 7 weeks?? Please put me down for 10 pounds. Hopefully I won't just gain and lose the same 3 pounds over and over again (like I have been) in the next 7 weeks

I can relate to that... I hate seeing homeless animals. One time my husband and I were at Pet Smart and I was looking at all the cats in cages. I was crying by the time we left... and I really don't even like cats!!!! I am much more a dog person (like you...I prefer big dogs)

That was sweet of her. I can understand the feeling, my turning point was when I had Kayleigh at McDonalds and this little girl cam up to me asking why I was so fat, then tried to karate kick me in the stomach!!!! :tongue_smilie: I decided then and there to go for the surgery, come hell or high water. I never wanted Kayleigh to be embarrased to have the "fat mom".

Sorry for the late post, but I was +2 last week Thank you all so much for the positive reinforcement regarding being called Kayleighs grandma. I guess what hit me so hard was that I know I don't look that old, and I was wondering if I was fooling myself. Even my husband said "you don't look that old" and he is not much for compliments (after 50+ pounds I asked him if I looked any different, and he said: "Well, if you go to the gym and work out..." ) Grrrrrr Tomorrow is the big day... my baby is going to kindergarten. I will be crying tomorrow morning . At least I have plans to fill my day.... exercise, exercise, exercise. Water aerobics anyone???

Approval Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
Amy, Congrats on your approval. I just hate, hate, hate BC/BS of IL. I was one of the people who said "screw it" and went ahead and paid. I had a severe hernia that had to be addressed, and was not about to have 2 surgeries. I am always happy to see people that were able to do what was needed to have BC pay for their surgery. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery...I'm sure you will do great with your new little friend for life!!!

When did you begin exercise? Especially swimming?
I waited wayyyy too long to exercise (partly due to some pretty serious post op problem... partly due to laziness  I know you don't want to bug your doctors office, but that is what they are there for. My opinion (and I am NOT a doctor) is that you should be able to swim, (as long as your incisions are all healed) But, since I am not a doctor, I would recommend calling your doctor. You are doing things right, wanting to exercise. Kudos to you It will make your loss that much better. Good luck on your journey to a new you. :cursing:

I took Kayleigh to Little Monkey Bizness (a indoor play area) and there was a 20 something mom there. I was taking pictures of Kayleigh, and I heard this mother say something about a grandma. Then I heard Kayleigh say "That's my momma" I heard the mom say something like "Oh, sorry". This is the first time I have been mistaken for her grandmother (well... at least as far as I know) I actually had tears in my eyes. I realize things are what they are, and that I really am old enough to be her grandmother, but it was still quite upsetting to me ;( I'm gonna go get my cane and shawl out of storage now... :cursing:

One Year!!!!
Today is my one year Bandiversary  I am down 72 pounds. I so wanted to be down 75 by today, but I am happy with the 72. I still have a long way to go, and wish I was one of those people who could say I've lost 100 something in a year... but I will just have to work harder to get there. Looking back on this year.... When I get down about my (in my mind) not fast enough weight loss I sometimes wish I had gone another route (bypass)..... but even while I have these thoughts, I know the band was the right choice for me. Do I regret being banded... never!!!! Any advice to newbies?? E-X-E-R-C-I-S-E I do regret I did not exercise at the beginning. I had some post op complications that made me quite miserable, but I wish I had pushed myself a bit more. I lost 40+ pounds just sitting in my recliner all day/every day. I imaging how much I would have lost had I actually moved around those first few months. I let myself lose focus for a while (3 month plateaus when you are doing everything right can do that to you) In the last month or so I have recommited to my band (I was never too far of the reservation...just not as careful as I could have/should have been) I am watchng what I eat... making better choices. I am also getting more moving in (I hate to call it exercise... that sounds like work :glare:) I will get there... it is just taking a bit longer than I had hoped and planned. __________________

I am not out of the woods yet  His PA said she would discuss the possibilty with him. He may still stick to his guns though. Also... I will live with this hernia (though it is really quite painful. as well as annoying) if I can't get the panni done at the same time. Which might be an unhill battle getting the insurance co to pay. Plus.... I don't even know if it would be possible to do this any time soon, since with my MIL's cancer and driving her around to chemo/shopping etc. I also would have no one to take care of Kayleigh. She is starting school in a couple of weeks (Wahhhh... my baby) but I know the plastic surgery is hard on you and usually requires quite a bit of chair/bed rest. Especailly with my history of post op issues. I just really don't know if it is doable :sneaky: Though I am still hoping this will all come together in a good way. Getting rid of the stomach would bring me down to 100 pounds lost, so it would take me under the 35 BMI (I did point this out to him last time I saw him) especailly when he told me my stomach itself is at least 25 pounds!!!!! :crying: I guess I will just have to wait til my July 12 appt to see what he has to say.
