  1. Hello Newme17! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes & for creating this site! I was sleeved 3 mos ago Aug. 16. As I started to add solids foods back into my diet I found that I can no longer tolerate All pork meat, cheese, eggs & now yogurt. Even greek yogurt! So I decided I would try eating healthy vegan style but I didnt know how to get started as well as to how to make sure I get in my recommended amount of protein(60-80g) daily! Any suggestions?
  2. When you mentioned that you Dr feels that you will be fine after the first week maybe true! I was out of the hospital the next day & walking alot. On my 3rd day I felt so good I went clothes shopping with my daughter. After 1 hr my body said, " you crazy lady! You need to go home & get to bed!" Well I listened to my body & had my daughter take me home! I wasnt in any pain. I just felt really exhausted. By my 2nd week I felt stronger & was able to walk 1/2 mile which was 2x around the a near by park walking track! So if you follow the program, IE: eating your protein requirments & most importantly Listen to your body! I know as a Nurse you already know that[emoji4] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. Hi Rachel! I just wanted to welcome you to this forum! I had my surgery 3 mos ago & for getting done at age 62 I have no regrets other than wishing I had done it when i was younger! Keep going to your classes & follow the program cause your gonna love the new you Im 5'1" HW 235 SW 210 CW 187 GW 150 for now Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Hello Everyone! Im 3 mos post op too but I had the gastric sleeve! So far Ive lost 31 Lbs & 17 inches since my surgery! I also use the MyFitnessPal app to log everything I put in my mouth to keep track mostly of my protein intake & calories! Im discovering why I was encouraged to eat my protein first because if I dont then I end up having to eat more than my alloted calories (600-800) just to get the 60-80g im suppose to have each day! Other than that im happy with my surgery & the way my weight is coming off! Its slow but this way I can get ahead of the flabby skin! Im 62 so I know skins gonna flab but at least I can try to keep it small & not so noticeable![emoji4] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

  10. Hello BariBetty! I too had my surgery (Gastric Sleeve) thru Kaiser Fontana on August 16,2017! Your gonna find the class pretty i formative. In fact going by the experiences of my daughters & younger sister with their insurance company, I feel that Kaiser has the best Bariactric program out there! I have no regrets on having bariactric surgery! I only wish I had it done 30yrs ago!? My starting weight before I took the Option class was 222lbs at the end of the 12 weeks I was 217 but the day of my surgery I weighed 210 Lbs. Now at 3 mos post op my weight is at 187! Im no longer on diabetes meds or using a Cpac machine! Im also happy to loose the weight slowly because Im able to keep up with peventing my skin getting to flabby & from looking sickly! As one of my friends expressed to me! So hang in there & dont
  11. Congrats to you! [emoji23][emoji23]these are tears of joy for you because I know how reaching short goals are so exciting especially when its been so long since you've hadnt seen certain #s for many years! So keep going cause your going to continue to accomplish more goals! Just be patient & stay on track. If you feel comfortable @ doing so take a pic of yourself each month & compare it to before pics to help you to stay focused! I like to also take my measurments because that inspires me more than the scale does! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. Yes that did help! Also when I continued to read the other post I have come to understand this much better! In fact I heard of this way before my surgery & realized this is what I have been doing all along without thinking about it! I normally eat from 7am to 5 or 6 pm with no snacking before bed! I hate having food in my stomach now while sleeping. On my gym days I try to have my coffee around 6am then have a protein shake at least by 8am. Then I dont eat any food until 11am or I'll have the 2nd scoop of protein (which totals 50g) in order to make sure Im getting my required protein for the day! 1 thing that I try now since my surgery, is to make my last meal between 5 or 6pm everyday including most weekends! As you know at this stage of post op my caloric intake is 600-800. More closer to 800 on my work out days. I log my food intake on the "MyfitnessPal" app in order for me to keep track of not just my calories but also my protein, fats & carbs! Am I doing this correctly? 17. Hello Apple1! First I'd like to thank you for opening up this discusion. I understand the health benefits of IF but im not understanding the 5:2 or the 16:8! What I understand IF to be, & please correct me if Im wrong, is no eating from your last meal of the day till your first meal the next day. Like a 12 hour window of no eating. For example; if my last meal was @ 6pm then my next meal will not be until 6am the next day! Is that somewhat how IF works? Please break it down for me! Im only 3 mos post op & agree I should wait till I reach my goal weight but Im really interested in learning more about IF from those who have actually tried it! 21. Hello Everyone! I have been reading all your post to this game & I think its pretty interesting! Im now 9wks post op & this morning my scale showed my weight at 188. My weight b4 surgery was 210. Im happy to loose my weight slowly so that I can stay on top of firming up my flabby skin! Anyway I started eating regular foods at 3 1/2 wks PO but I was having trouble getting my required protein in! I could no longer tolerate any flavor of premier shakes or cheese & i dont like milk. Never have. Finally I started using the Isopure protein powder mixing it in my flavored water. Now I feel much better about my protein intake. I can drink up to 48oz of water but it has to be flavored! Now that Im nearly 3 mos post op & can get more variety of foods, I would like to get my protein requirement as well as cal, carbs, fiber & fats by eating real foods & just limit my protein powder for on my workout days! Also since I still cant eat cheese( except cottage cheese), All porks & tuna, Im going Keto paleo/vegan dieting! I love avocados with my food, all healthy oils, salsas, beans & Ezekiel product are my favorites! Soo please continue to post your meal plans for me to get good ideas![emoji16] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I hear Ya DannyPaul! Whatever I eat I fill full fast. Sometimes it feels so miserable I have to take my Mylanta then wait till my stomach settles down for me to even drink a sip of water! But I discovered what Im doing wrong (1) im eating too fast & (2) Im learning what foods I can no longer tolerate anymore like cheese, all pork ( there goes eating bacon for awhile). Oh & my beloved BBQ Ribs![emoji22][emoji45]. Today I discovered eggs make me have that terrible full feeling & it was just 1 scrambled egg! Well I guess I'll look into eating Vegan for a bit![emoji53] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
