Where are all the Canadians ?

Hi Dawn, I'm from Milton and had my surgery a month ago at Humber River. Where will you be going?
  2. Some of the pain may be due to gas; walking sure helps as does sipping fluids slowly. I'm 12 days post-op and once the gas started dissipating, the discomfort was greatly relieved.

    Looking for Hamiltonians

@@cab127 So your one day ahead of me! When you're up to it, would love to meet up and compare notes. My family thought I was crazy for doing this and it would be great to have someone to talk with about it! I'm sure we could find a convenient place to meet.

    Happy New Year everyone!

@ Hi, I had it at Humber River hospital, the Finch site. My surgeon was Laz Klein, who has an amazing reputation. He's certified by the American association that accredits bariatric surgeons and when I checked last year, was the only Canadian doctor to have that. Who's doing yours?

    Looking for Hamiltonians

@@CanadianGirl74 I discovered that using a packet of Folgers or Starbucks instant decaf in the Optifast helped a lot; both the vanilla and the chocolate. Also making them as cold as possible. I was actually surprised that they weren't as bad as I'd been dreading! Am curious though about what people are paying for it. My surgeon charges $110 for a week's worth; is that pretty standard?

    Looking for Hamiltonians

Brampton, Ancaster, Hamilton and I'm in Milton. I had my surgery one week ago at Humber River after being told not to expect a date until May or June. I phoned the surgeon's office in early Dec after completing all the other appts, classes, tests, etc and they'd just added two dates for surgery and I got one of them! Would love to connect; any interest in meeting in person if we could figure out a central location?

How to take vitamins after surgery

I'm one week post-op and can't swallow pills yet. I found multi-vitamins in powder form at GNC but pricy so went with the chewables; also chewable calcium. Have most others in liquid form. Was told to start taking them pre-op and to continue immediately after surgery. They gave me a schedule for when and how much.

    Happy New Year everyone!

My first time posting here; had my surgery one week ago in Toronto. I had been told not to expect a date until late spring/early summer but phoned the surgeon's office in early Dec to see if any dates had opened up and they'd just had a cancellation! Down 11 lbs in the 2 wks prior while on Optifast and 6 lbs since surgery. Don't get discouraged by the long wait times; if you keep checking (politely) you may find that an earlier date opens up.
