  1. I ordered PatchMD vitamin patches to use after surgery. My surgery is June 1 and I'm terrified after reading all of this feedback! As for protein, my nutritionist said it is based on height. As a 5'6 female, my goal is about 89 grams a day. It is easy to get on the pre-op diet because I'm doing 2 protein shakes a day, as well as adding a tablespoon of unflavored protein powder (31g) to 16 of Crystal Light.
  2. Has anyone had outpatient surgery? I'm scheduled for 6/1 at 7:30 am and need to check out of the surgery center by 5 pm. Has anyone else done this? Wondering how it was for you! I'm nervous! I'm self-pay, and I could pay more to stay overnight but the doctor indicated I don't need to. Thank you!
  3. As someone who just watched her mother die from smoking, I beg you to please try to find a way to quit! I understand that you like it but it seriously took over my mom's life. Please try! Wellbutrin isn't an anti-smoking drug; it is an antidepressant that apparently has the side benefit of helping you quit smoking. So ask your doctor! I promise that you will never regret giving it up...but as you get older and your body shuts down from the smoke, you may have regrets when it is too late to help yourself! Hang in there!
  4. Outpatient just means you go home the same day as your surgery. Do you mind me asking who your surgeon is? Mine is Ali. I'm super nervous!
  5. I'm in OC too, surgery scheduled for June 1. Did you do outpatient surgery? I'm scheduled for outpatient and very nervous about that!
  6. You had surgery one week ago and are walking 2 miles a day! That is awesome!
  7. I should add, my surgery is outpatient and I'll be home that night. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I usually only take the pain meds after surgery (2 c-sections and a foot surgery) for a couple of days. It WILL be hot at the tournament - last year it was 105 degrees. I just don't want to miss it, I'm already missing the tournament that is the day after my surgery, and I feel so embarrassed (and angry with myself) that I'm missing her stuff because of my issue!
  8. My surgery is scheduled for 6/1. (I'm scared!!). My daughter has a softball tournament out of town the 9-11. Will I be able to go? I'll be 8 days post op. It will mean I'll basically have to pack a bunch of protein shakes and soup. Also, what is the soonest any of you have driven after surgery? If I don't take the pain meds, do you think I'll be able to drive short distances 4 days post op? Thank you!!
  9. I've heard there is less risk for hair loss on sleeve - that it is more common with bypass??

  11. Yep!! I just had my first consult and after the meeting with the nutritionist I was freaking out!! She kinda made it seem like I could never eat a normal thing again! And no margaritas?!?!?!! And I'm paying cash because I don't want to do the 6 month requirement for the insurance. (I'm 5'6, 250, no other health issues except my obesity). I thought, maybe I can just do this myself! But the fact is, I have to be honest with myself and know that I wouldn't. But reading these forums has made me feel better! My surgery is set for June 1 and I'm excited but very nervous!!
