    One Year Post Op

I met my goal and currently maintaining.
  4. Hey everyone, I’m doing great and I hope everyone else is too! I did cheat some on some treats but I’m holding my weight and plan to get back on track with exercise at the new year. Down 75 pounds and so thankful for my sleeve. Wishing everyone a blessed 2018!
  5. Here are a couple side by side photos from when I started this journey in November, 2016 till now, two weeks after surgery. A 35 pound difference. No longer taking my blood pressure medicines or Metformin. After beginning the pre-op appointments for approval, I started wrapping my mind around this new life. From November 1, 2016 to my two week pre-op liquid diet, I lost 11 pounds. I lost 12 pounds during the two week pre-op liquid diet. And after surgery to now, two-weeks post-op, I've lost 12 pounds. 35 pounds total. 45 pounds to make it to my goal of a healthy weight.

  7. Congrats! I'm 2 weeks post-op and glad to find this subject. My barrel horse is a little rough so I've been wondering the same thing. How long till I'm healed and when could I safely run barrels without hurting my sleeved stomach.

    Who Are You?

Good idea, thanks! I’m 42, married to my high school sweetheart. Our only son just graduated high school. I enjoy our horses and dogs, walking and swimming. My hobby is barrel racing, which I hope to get to do more and easier, after my surgery. (May 31st). After dieting for as long as I can remember, this past year I just felt as though this was me. I’m always going to have to fight my weight. The older I get, the heavier I will get. But, over the past few years I feel like I’ve lost the person I used to be. The person I want to be. At times I no longer felt the desire to ride my horse that I trained myself to run barrels. Sometimes I didn’t even want to go do things with our friends. As my weight would go up, then down some, then back up more, I slowly quit taking my horse to competitions because I couldn’t shake the fact that I had been told I was too big for him. The past couple years I’ve just kind of floated through life. It wasn’t until bariatric surgery was brought to my attention that I felt that maybe I could reset my body, become healthy, and hopefully, reset my life. So here I am. This is just the beginning of my journey. Blessings to you all!
  9. Hang in there! I like sugar free popcicles, maybe that could be a change for you. I'm on day 10 of my liquid diet. I just keep thinking, this will be the hardest diet I will do, then once I have surgery, I will be able to slowly incorporate more and more of a variety of things. Don't lose the focus and what you started the process for! I pray you can continue on. Sending you good vibes for strength and endurance.

    Liquid diet....

Update: I've survived week one of my two week liquid diet and doing great! As long as I'm sure to drink a protein shake 3-4 times a day, especially when I know I'm going to be walking a lot or do some sort of exertion. With this diet being aimed at having to stay at 500 calories to shrink my liver, my body is obviously running on fumes, so I have to be careful not to over do it. I've found diluting my water with G2 (sugar free Gatorade) or Propel, helps when I feel I need more energy. I believe what has helped me to survive is sugar free popcicles and sugar free jello in between my protein drinks throughout the day. Broth is also a nice warm treat. One week down, one more to go. Then surgery, May 31st! I hope this helps others who may be worried about a liquid diet, or had trouble at the beginning as I did. Just don't give up or panic like I did, it gets easier. I have more energy going into week two, I just have to keep in balance. Best of luck to all of you reading this and God Bless!

    Liquid diet....

Hang in there, it gets better!
  12. Hey everyone. I had a rough night on my 3rd night of my 2 week liquid diet. Been feeling good during the day but only getting around 360 calories a day and having trouble getting in all 64 oz of water. Maybe that's why. I constantly have to get up to use the bathroom due to so much water intake. Last night around 3am I was wide awake. Went to bathroom then started to feel nervous and anxious. Then I became dizzy and hot so I went to the door to get some fresh, cool air and next thing I remember was my husband picking me up off the floor. I had fainted. I don't know if it's my nutrients, if I'm dehydrated, or something else. Maybe blood sugar. What did you eat during the day on the liquid diet and how much? I know I need to do at least 500 in my program, to shrink my liver. But I haven't been that hungry. Have you ever heard of anyone feeling that way and passing out? It's making me question all this. And if I will be able to get the nutrients and water I will need after surgery.

    Liquid diet....

Hello, I'm currently on my two week liquid diet and day 3 was as bad as I was warned it would be. But it will pass! Hang in there. I love sugar free popcicles and sugar free jello. And if I feel jittery, I dilute some G2 or Propel in my water and that helps with electrolytes. Best of luck, you can do this!!

How has your blood sugar been since? I'm a little concerned about this after surgery. I love sugar free popcicles and sugar free jello as well!
