  1. Oh that sounds good. How do they taste?
  2. I think the slimfast has about 11 or 15 grams of sugar. I better not use them anymore.
  3. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that used slimfast for their preop protein shake? I am 3 days away from my band:smile: and i have been using the slimfast optima shakes twice a day. My nutritionist had told me to use medifast or Whey protein shakes from gnc but the slimfast is so much more convient. I know they have a bit more sugar then the other two shakes. I don't know if i should switch for the last couple of days prior to surgery. The closer it gets the more nervous i am getting. Sombody please get back to me. Thank you

  6. well today is my first day on my pre-op diet. Its 10:17 am and i had my yogart this am at 9:00 and at 11:30 i plan to have a slimfast high protein shake. I feel a tinge of what i think may be hunger. I feel motivated and pretty excited. I feel like i am ready for this.

  8. I too am a patient of Dr. Geiss, I am due to have my band done on July 31st. I am very worried about making the lifestyle change. I have not been dieting or watching what i eat at all. I also have a memebership at a local gym but i just can not seem to find the energy to go. I also want to say i can't find the time but we all know that if i really wanted to find time i would. When you have the band do you just go and go and almost forget about eating because you are not hungry. Does your desire to eat out of boardum go away at all? I worry about making these changes.
  9. Oh my gosh, i am sorry that i have not been on in such a long time. Did you get your cardo apt yet. I just tell every doctor that i make appointments with that i am in the process of getting approval for a lap band procedure, they are all familiar with the process,. You will find that most people are very happy for you, and they all say oh well come back and see us because we've heard that people do really good with the band. Let me know if i can be of any help to you. I have actually gotten my surgery date and it will be July 31st with Dr. Geiss.
  10. Thank you, I am from long island to, who is doing your surgery? I have Dr. Geiss.
  11. I had my sleep study done in March, It came up that i had mild sleep apnea, my primary doc had sent me to have it done because I was on the boarder line of the 40 bmi for insurance. He said if i had sleep apnea then that would be a comorbibity, and my insurance would pay for it. Well turns out i had gained a few pounds before the apt with the surgeon and i didn't even need that to get me to my 40bmi. In the mean time i went through and had all of my requirements done. Only to find out that the surgeon wanted me to have a c-pap test done because of the sleep apnea. I went this past Wednesday and had that done. I think that is more for the surgeon and the anesteologist and not an insurance requirement....Turns out for me that the tech said i need the machine. YUH My surgery date is set for July 31st. It looks like you have just about everything done. You'll get a date before you know it.
  12. Hi Everyone, I finally got my surgery date :thumbup:I started my journey at the end of February. July 31st is my date. Can anyone explain to me how you put the ticker at the bottom of the messages. Thanks Sue
  13. Congratulations on being banded. I hope that i am getting close myself, I started in April of this year. I decided i wanted it in February but wasn't able to get an appointment until then. What size is your band. Sue
  14. I have not had the procedure yet, but I can tell you not to forget the feeling you had before getting this done. I am sure you did not make this decission lightly. Maybe you should call the doctors office and explain to them the issues you have. Maybe they will take you sooner. Maybe you should try following a specific diet like ww to help control the amount of food you are eating. Don't lose hope, Hang in there. Sue
  15. Congratulations countingthedays it sure was an uphill battle for you. Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond to my questions, your answers did help me. Sue
  16. Hi Lisa, I just had my appointment with Dr. Geiss about 2 weeks ago. What did you think? I am excited. Do you have any of your testing done yet? I still have to go to the pulmonary doc and my endocrin doc. Are you going to go to the meeting next week? Maybe i'll see you there. Sue
  17. I am hoping to have my band done mid July. I am still in the process of going to all of my doctor appointments and having all of my tests. I was wondering after meeting with the nutritionist last week, she let me know that i will need to be on a liquid diet the week prior to surgery and for about 2 weeks after followed by mushies for another 2 weeks. Then puree for 2 more weeks. This really scares me. How hard is it to do this. After all I need to get this band because i can't seem to control my eating to begin with. Please someome let me know how hard this is so i can prepare myself. Higest weight 233 current weight 227 Oh what i really want to be is 130
  18. I worry about the same thing. Ive heard that excercise really helps, I have also heard that skim milk helps with the elasticity, I heard that when i was at weight watchers( you know one of the 100 or so times that i joined) HA.
  19. Hi My Name is Sue and I have my first appointment with Dr. Geiss on May 2nd. How are things going for you. I would love to hear. Sue suevicente@yahoo.com
  20. I have an appointment with Dr. Geiss on May 2nd. I asked if there is anything i could do to move the process along, they told me i could get my cardio clearence, and make my appointment for my psych and nutrional evaluation. I plan on going on a cruise in October and I am hoping that i will be able to have the procedure done with enough time that I will be feeling better and maybe even have lost a few pounds. Has anyone used him, and how was your experience. I appreciate any input. Sue Cardio apt 4/3/08 Consult 5/2/08
  21. I will be back next February, Thanks so much for your advise.
  22. Thank you Indiogirl55. I almost feel like your message to me is a sign that I am doing the right thing, you see i have some family in Palm Springs CA that I miss and love dearly. I was just there visiting in Feb, and it was right after i returned that I decided that i was going to go forward making an appointment with my regurlar doctor to discuss the band. Well see what happens on May 2nd.
