  1. Thank you, I'm going to talk to another surgeon because that threw me off. I asked about losing too much weight with the bypass she said well you can always gain a little back if you lose too much.
  2. That's what I'm going to do because I want to make the best decision. I have osteoarthritis and I take NSAID and with the bypass you can never take that again.

  4. I went to my appointment today I asked and she said I can let you know closer to surgery. I know I will have to pay upfront but I got confused because the one nurse kept saying the deductible but then she said I'm not the insurance guru.
  5. This confuses me because my deductible is a $1000 and out of pocket max is $3500. I know I have to pay something upfront just don't know if it will be $1000 or the $3500.
  6. That's the first I've heard of that everything I've read doesn't mention anything like that. The complications of bypass compared to the sleeve is my biggest issue.
  7. I went to my first appointment with the bariatric surgeon today I had my mind set on Gastric Sleeve. The surgeon says well with you being diabetic and African American I would recommend the bypass studies have shown that bypass works better for AA females. She stated that I would no longer have to take my diabetes medication. She said it's my choice but she wanted me to know the best option for me. Has anyone with diabetes been successful with the sleeve?
  8. I'm considering Kristin Patton at Saline Memorial Bariatric Center in Benton Arkansas.
  9. No ma'am I haven't read that book but I will definitely check it out.
  10. I'v been doing a lot of research to prepare myself for what's about to come.
  11. Was there a wait period with your insurance? I am nervous about the out of pocket cost. My deductible is $1000 and max out of pocket is $3500 which includes the $1000. My insurance company said some are willing to let you pay it out but others want the full amount upfront.
  12. I am going through the bariatric pilot program it's a 6 months program. If approved I will be eligible for surgery in July. I have been looking at Saline Memorial Bariatric Center for gastric sleeve.
  13. Does anyone here have AR Benefits through the State or Public School?
