  1. That is awesome @Newme17. I like that app too. I am gonna start the core exercises this week!! ?
  2. I posted about this a couple pages back. I said how most of us are doing this without even really realizing it, and it somehow becomes dangerous when we decide to do it on purpose?? No that doesn’t make any sense to me
  3. Yes, as I explained this is the plan. Waler still disagrees and that is fine we all have our own opinions, but science backs up IF and more research is happening on this subject as well as the gut micro flora. I find both subjects very interesting.
  4. I think the ricotta bake is vegetarian. If you do a google search you should find the recipe. Also the tofu Parmesan is vegitarian and soft. Welcome !!!
  5. Are you kidding me? Everything I eat or at least 90% of it, is because of the health benefits it will give to my body. I have done my research on diet and I will do my research on intermittent fasting. I will share what a I have learned so others can benefit. Anyone reading this thread can then decide for themselves if this is something they might want to incorporate into their healthy lifestyle. You still haven’t proven your points with any data to back up why this type of eating is harmful. I have been very respectful to you even though you have been rude and downright mean in your responses. I am not going to respond to your posts anymore because it is a waste of my time.

  7. Ok, but where is the data and peer reviewed journal articles? This is what we need to see especially since you were so critical of using the internet for information. I have found even more evidence that intermittent fasting has been used very successfully to reverse Type 2 diabetes. I will post more links later to other journal articles. I am busy today at work.
  8. You would be surprised how often it isn't obvious.
  9. I focus on nutrition primarily. Everything I choose to eat is because it is healthy and contributes to my overall good nutrition. If you are going to be successful long term you should do your best to make the lifestyle changes that will last. I don’t eat any of the junk foods that I used to. I avoid processed foods and sugar. I have chosen to eat a plant based diet, but many choose to eat low carb. A treat once in a while will happen, but overall healthy eating is the norm.
  10. I do say something to that effect, usually I say that I feel great, but then they will just continue to say well you don't look healthy... Really it is just a couple of people I see at church, but I don't want to say anything to offend them so I think I am just going to start to smile and wave then walk away without engaging if I can...
  11. I could probably handle it better if it was strangers. I would never say to someone I know, but am not super close to, that I have noticed they put on some weight and they should lose a few pounds, so why is it ok for them to say I am too skinny every time they see me? I can take a nice compliment just fine, but this is not a compliment. Maybe I am too sensitive about my body image, but I think some people are really too intrusive and rude with letting me know their feelings about my weight loss.
  12. I was 20-30 net for the first 3 months. For the last 2 months I usually fall somewhere between 50-75g. I am not really trying to keep mine there on purpose, but whole grains are filling so I can only eat a few bites at a time. The increased fiber and carbs seem to agree with my system and I started losing faster once I jumped up. Maybe it is because of my thyroid condition like @FluffyChix said. I don't really know, but it works for me.
  13. LOL... I just posted and then you did!!
  14. Yes it English lol... I thought she meant for hearing impaired.
  15. Try this link. There is an option to download the MP4. That is how I watched it on my laptop. Part 2 is the show with the IF info. I am watching part 1 now. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4751097.htm
  16. I just finished watching the one about Gary and the intermittent fasting. It wasn't captioned, but I watched online. They are very good. It was interesting to learn that some of our gut microbes flourish during fasting periods and feed off of the gut secretions when our intestines are empty.
  17. I crave salads now and I eat one everyday for lunch. I put 1 oz of walnuts or almonds, sometimes a little avocado. So delicious and nutritious!! You can get your microflora identified by a poop sample. I have thought about doing this to make sure I have a good variety of the right types. Fiber is important from what I have been reading lately.
  18. I do believe @Newme17 has always identified all of her recipes as vegan or vegetarian depending on what it is so people will know, if it matters to them. I'm not sure why the warning is necessary?? Just really wondering.
  19. Yes, it is beginning to get uncomfortable for me at times. Mainly because now I have people telling me I am too skinny. I feel like they are really judging me more every time they see me. I have actually started feeling weird about wearing clothes that show off my figure more because I don't want to be continually noticed. This only happens from people who have known me before the weight loss. I am not sure how to deal with this. I usually just say I feel great and try to change the subject away from me. So I really do understand and no you are not nuts.
  20. I was a size 18 at 255 and I am a size 8 at 159. I am pretty sure I will be in a size 6 at 155. I wear medium tops now and a 3x then.
  21. Maybe use a coconut milk? I know I use it whenever I make curry and the flavors works so well. I found a recipe for garbanzo bean potato curry that I am going to make this week. I'll post it up when I make it. I am making chicken soup tonight at my families request. It is a tradition as soon as we get 50 f weather I make the soup...lol I know it is not vegan, but you have to let them have their meat once in a while.
  22. Yes!! I can eat black beans fine and no gas, but lentils still effect me a little more than I would like lol...
  23. Thank you!! I am watching now.
  24. Because you know all the beans we eat can be a little noisy some times
  25. I agree that some of us have the excess hormone problem and insulin is the problem. Some researchers have theorized that those of us with the thrifty gene are the ones more likely to suffer with metabolic syndrome. Anything we can do to reduce insulin levels will go a long way to helping us normalize our weight. There are different ways of achieving this and WLS is one of them. Another interesting thing I have just learned is how some doctors believe that intermittent fasting mimics the feast and fast cycle and this may be one of the reasons this style of eating works for many people. It works with the natural tendencies of their metabolism. Very interesting stuff.
