  1. I guess I misunderstood you. Thanks for your input and your reply. Congrats on your weight loss!
  2. Well this is not what I want to hear! I'm 310. Probably be 300 day of surgery. You're saying I' only going to go down to 250 lbs? Iff that is true, why am I doing this?
  3. I know I shouldn't be in a hurry but I am reading on a lot of websites that it takes two years or people to reach their target weight as opposed to one year for people who got gastric bypass surgery on average. Has that been your experience? Any feedback would be great thanks. I also read that people with a higher BMI to start (mine is 51) will lose the wight quicker. Any insight would be great. Thanks!
  4. JUNE 14th not APRIL LOL and I am still nervous
  5. Oh awesome! We are neighbors! You are surgery is so soon. How are you feeling?
  6. Hi! I am schduled to have the gastric sleeve on June 14th. Encino is not too far from Culver City. It would be nice to communicate with you through this process. I am second guessing myself about if the procedure I chose was the best one for me. I emailed my surgeon but he has not replied to me yet.
  7. I am still pre op but would love to speak with and/or meet people nearby. I live in Encino.
  8. May I ask why you are having a revision. I thought I was set on the sleeve but I wonder if at my BMI if it will give me the amount of weight loss that I want. I have a BMI of 51. I wonder if it is truly the correct procedure for me. Fine time for me to be questioning this!
  9. Thank you both for replying. I have contacted my surgeon about it but he has not gotten back to me yet. I hope to hear from him soon. I do not suffer from GERD either. I am a second guesser in general. The rerouting the intestines thing does scare me.
  10. I am scheduled to see Dr. Illan or a gastric sleeve surgery but am now wondering if the mini gastric bypass is a better option for me. Although the rerouting of the intenstines scares me a little. I have a BMI of 51 and i dont know if the sleeve will be sufficient to take me to my goal and i dont really want to have a revision later.
  11. I thought I was 100 percent set on getting the gastric sleeve as it seemed to e the "least invasive." However, I have been reading up on the mini gastric bypass and I am wondering if that would be better for me. I am 5'5 a little over 300 lbs with a BMI of 51 and wonder if I will be able to get to my goal weight at that size with just the sleeve alone. I have scheduled my surgery or June 14th for the sleeve but now I am wondering if I chose the right surgery. I do not suffer from acide reflux, I don't want it and of course I want the least amount of complications possible. I also dont want to have a second surgery if one doesnt go as planned. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

  13. Hmm...I honestly can't recommend anything I am about 2 and a hal hours away. Sorry.
  14. I am in Los Angeles County. Encino to be specific (West Valley). I am going to be staying at a hotel in TJ (a nice one) that is a part of the package.
  15. Absolutely. Feel free to message me anytime. Im here to support you
  16. I can COMPLETELY related to everything you said. You are not alone!
  17. The struggle is real. I can completely understand. The struggle is real. I am an emotional, compulsive overeater. I realized that each time I have lost a significant amount of weight is when I was in college or had several months off of work. It is so hard to do with a stressful career. I keep wanting to reward myself with food after a stressful day and a walk in the park or a good book isn't the same quick fix as a piece of chocolate cake or a glass or bottle of wine. I COMPLETELY get it. My surgery is not until June 14th. This is far away or around the corner depending on how you looks at it. I have not been perect on my "diet" but I am doing better. I am trying to lose weight before my required pre op diet and I certainly don't want to gain any weight. We have to decide what we want the most. I live alone too and with no family where I live. It is worth it to me but I think the pre op diet is one of the ultimate tests of our willpower and readiness. However, I have yet to go through it! You want your surgery to be successful and safe. I completely get it though. Keep us updated on wht you decide.
  18. Hahaha. I guess not everyone lives in Los Angeles! Whalewatching! Most romantic thing you can do!
  19. Congratulations on 10 years! My surgery is June 14th so we are real close. How about a romantic carriage ride in the park? Gondolea? I am not sure where you live. Comedy show? (not as romantic) Concert in the park? Go see a play? Couples massage? I am not sure if that was helpful but just somethings I , myself might consider if I were in your position.
  20. I am a resource teacher at an elementary school and I was just curious about how my fellow teachers have been handling the change. Is it harder to stick to the diet being at school all day? Am I going to have to take small sips of water all day for the rest of my life? How is it possible to get all of that water in? When I really looked through the post op diet again, I became a little overwhelmed about how to balance everything. It is well worth it but I need advice and would apprciate knowing your experiences. Thanks. ,
