  1. I'm doing much better. I've been on liquids for 3 days now. The cough and phlem is still there, but greatly reduced, as is the soreness. I'm concerned about going to food today, I don't want to undo any healing. But I'm starving. It sure goes to show you that even though we think we are eating slow and small in comparision to what and how we ate before, it may not be for the band.
  2. Hey Seppi, I'm in the same boat. Even this small fill is giving my esophagus a problem, and giving me reflux. I had reflux before banding and getting my gallbladder out helped a lot, but not completely. I also have the same doctor as you, so we really are in the same boat!
  3. I'm sort of , in the same boat. I had reflux before banding, and after a fill, it's worse, even on Protonix. I'm wondering if I should switch to the Nexium? I don't want to lose the band, but I am worried about the long term reflux damage if we can't get this under control.
  4. Hey Jack! Thank you for your responses. I talked to the nurse, who spoke with the doctor. They think I have irritated my pouch and esophagus due to eating too fast and too large. They don't want to do an unfill just yet, as it has 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. They want me on liquids for 3 days, and if it's still not better, they will have me go to the ER for an unfill. I have bad asthma, so yes as someone pointed out, the lungs are a concern.

  6. Thank you, that's a great idea (the folded blanket and pillows) because I am sleeping with the pillows on an angle. Someone mentioned that it sounds like esophagitis. That's frightening!!!I've called the nurse at the office today a few times and I have not gotten a call back today. (office staff probably forgot to tell her) I'm getting really scared, what should i do? :help: I feellike I want someone to take this out of me, NOW!
  7. Thanks Leatha. It is sore. Have you ever had it? I'm trying, but I can't seem to get a call back. It's the office staff not getting the messages through I think. :-(
  8. I just finished eating dinner and the mucas is flowing into my throat after eating and I'm having to clear it constantly. This is defo band related. My band area feels sore too.

  10. Thank you so much for responding. I'm not sure what it is, but it may be an infection. I've had them before and my thraot is so sore. But it feels like the mucas is coming from the stomach. ???:phanvan
  11. Hey all, Weird things going on in my throat for weeks now. I have mucas build up, but it's not a PB. Kind of like when you have a bad cold. I am clearing my thraot so much it's sore. This happens all day and at night, I'm not sleeping well. Thanks
  12. hey all, thanks so much. I'm on Protonix and Nasonex, but the weird throat this is getting worse. In fact, it keeps me in a very light sleep at night. I was supposed to see the doc today, but he had to cancel due to surgery. I have a lot of mucas in my throat, at times so much I'm trying to swallow it down, ccoughing, and I'm clearing my throat a lot all day. At night, towards the end of the day, I'm sore from coughing and clearing my throat all day. There is some soreness around the band area too. I can feel this all during my sleep. I'm thinking I may have been eating too fast and too much since my very first fill last month. Suggestions, experiences?
  13. I swear by Nioxin and the biotin supplements. It's really helped me out.
  14. Thanks for the replies. :-) I woke up in the middle of the night and did feel the reflux backing up. It's strange reflux, less acidey than what was a few years ago. I tried raising the bed, but the slats in my bad fall off if I do. There are no pillows out there made for us weirdlings? :-p
  15. My throat feels weird during the night and in the morning. I can't explain the feeling. It's been slightly sore too. I know the first thing to think is acid, but I've been battling acid reflux for 5 years, and it feels different. Maybe it's related, I don't kniow. It's been feeling this way since the banding. Also Anyone have suggestions on how to sleep in an upright position? I have acid reflux before banding and it has not gone away. I use 3 pillows to prop myself up, but I find in the morning I've slipped down flat, or I have a stiff neck. I can't raise the bed as it keeps my SO awake, and he needs to sleep well too. Thanks!
  16. Hi! I've been certified since 1998. I have had to take a break since coming down with Fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue, but I mentor new students at a local school. I'm also a Reiki Master.
  17. That's what I'm thinking (hoping!) I was bent over retching, and that usually does aggravate my port.
  18. Hey all, Saturday I had a bout of stomach flu and threw up 3 times. SInce then I have been having pain right under my left rib. It feels like it's in the ribs. It hurts when I lift something, cough or breath in deeply. The pain is not in my band area, the center of the sternum, but to the left, under the left breast. I am wondering if I did something or it's inflammation?? Thanks
  19. This thread has good info. Anyone's throat just feel "weird?" Mine feels odd ,the entire throat, especially at night. It wakes me up sometimes. I had my first fill on Thursday.
  20. *dances around the thread doing the First Fill Dance** Like this..... OFFICIAL BANDLANDIAN FIRST FILL DANCE Getting a fill in the office without flouro was a bit weird. He had me tighten up my muscles and felt around for it. I could feel my port when he touched it. That felt weird. He numbed it first with a needle and was very gentle doing that. I hardly felt it. Then when he stuck in the saline needle, I did feel pressure and soreness and he said he was sorry, but it wasn't that bad. He was feeling around for the "pop" he said. That is how he knows it went in. Thank god my surgeon is good enough to do fills both ways correctly. He had me sit up with this weird thing sticking out of my port, like a valve, and drink Water as he watched me. I was a little sore last night much not that bad. I love my surgeon, he rocks. He is a good natured Russian dude that makes me laugh. Not only is he highly skilled, but our personalities click and that is why I did not want to leave his practice because Medicare are a bunch of poopie heads.
  21. Thanks all, I drank the old Irish rememdy...tea with milk and sugar and am feeling better. I also had some thin pudding. hope your feeling better as well Kathy!
  22. Hi ALl, I read somewhere in her that acid reflux can cause Pneumonia, and it can be a dangerous form of it. I was reading a poster's ordeal with it, but can't find it anymore. I was wondering if we could talk more about this. I have GERD, always have, and also asthma and want to be cautious about what to look for , etc. as I'm sure others do.
  23. Weird huh? I have low blood pressure normally. I just read on here it can effect that, make it lower. I'll just take it easy.
  24. Thanks Lisa! :-) I appreciate your support and I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for the people on this board.
  25. Hey all, it may be coincidental, but I woke up today not feeling well. Yesterday was my first fill. I'm feeling a little dizzy and nauseous, stomach is bothering me, headachy and my bowels are a little loose (sorry) ANyone else? Could be my CFS or Fibromyalgia flaring up.
