  1. Ummmmmm, I love peanut butter...but I have always loved the crunchy type. Guess I will have to switch to creamy! This sounds really good!
  2. Oh what good news! I know that is a relief to you. Will keep praying until all the results are in! Hang in there!
  3. OK, I am getting nervous that we aren't hearing anything back yet from athykay! Hope we hear some good news soon!
  4. Well I didn't buy any protein shakes at Sams cause my doctors said they want me to use Slim Fast Optimum or something like that...so I will do what they say and after I get through the preop liquid diet and the healing process then I will try out some of the ones ya'll are using.
  5. Thanks ya'll. I can hardly wait! I am going to be cute again! Whooda thunk it? I never thought I would be slim again. It is a dream come true and an answer to prayer...but really I am more thrilled about being healthy again and being able to play with my grandsons and maybe even do my own housework...even help someone else out in some way!
  6. I just got back from Texarkana and Dr Hekier and Keilan's seminar on the band. I was extremely impressed with them and their staff. I went by their office today and talked with their insurance lady (Betty). She is really nice and helpful. I have a date of 4/3/06 for my consult with the doctors, nutritionist consult, psychological consult and sleep study all in one day! I think she said I can bring blood work from my many doctors I already go to and have done every 3 months! Because I will be Medicare, I will have to spend the night in the hospital but that is no problem for me...I will enjoy the extra time to re-group. LOL. Also, I don't have to have a letter of medical necessity but she said it would be a good idea to let my primary care doctor know what I am planning so he can get on board and be ready to adjust my meds after surgery. The doctors also want me to be off the methotrexate for a few weeks after the surgery just to make sure I can heal and not get an infection since methotrexate lowers your immune system. They have done 131 lap bands between them and they ALWAYS work together unless one gets called out of surgery because of an emergency. They are extremely well qualified and also have great personalities...which is important to me. Their credentials are in my opinion above reproach....so I feel really good. I am soooooooo excited! I will probably be banded sometime in April or early May!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  7. OK, where do you get unjure and isopure? Thanks!
  8. OMG! Thank God for menopause. I haven't had a period in years....and I will strip my drawers off in a flash for a cute orderly....hah, hah...just kidding.
  9. Tricia, did you drink 16 oz when you were newly banded? Did you mix it up 16 oz at a time and you drank it throughout the day? I am going to Sams club tomorrow when I go to Texarkana for my seminar and I will look for the Body Fortress Premium Whey Powder! Thanks for the tip.
  10. Wow! 56 pounds in 5 months! Way to go! Hope I do that well!
  11. Congratulations! Like Mini Me said "I can't wait to join you!"
  12. Kathy, prayers coming your way! May God give you His peace...peace that passes understanding.
  13. I imagine some of those 614 views are people like me who aren't banded yet but trying to keep up with developments and info. Hope to be banded in the next few months! Going to a seminar this Thursday!
  14. Way to go Dody! I am not backing out either! I am an optimist and I have great faith in God!
  15. That's not boobs! Thems butt cheeks! Tee hee!
  16. Some of the men can probably show some boobie changes...I know when my hubby gains weight he almost needs a bra! He would die if he knew I said that on the internet! Shhhhh....don't tell him. However, now he is thin and his chest has ummmm "fallen". But he has the cutest butt you ever saw!
  17. I haved insurance through my husband's workplace...they are self-insured. They have an exclusion even if medically necessary. I talked to one of the owners about why they won't pay and he said absolutely not..they are already struggling to pay for things "people have no control over like accidents, etc." and I should be able to control my weight with diet and exercise. I would appeal but I will be eligible for Medicare 4/1 and I am cancelling my insurance with my husband's employers...ain't givin' 'em another dime...though they have paid really good on everything I have had done...I don't think I will need them anymore and my husband is never, ever sick but we will keep his until his retirement. There is no way we will be able to pay $500 a month or more for Cobra after he retires but his is a veteran and he is signing up with the VA soon. A couple of his friends use the VA and are quite satisfied. So we shall see.We also have the AFLAC intensive care policy and cancer policy to cover those types of things.
  18. I read on the ObesityHelp.com site under "insurers" where some were approved by them and got their surgery but I am not sure any lap banders were covered...but I am not sure. Check out that site!
  19. Yeah, about 13 years ago I talked to my gyno about low libido. He put me on testosterone...I quit taking it when I started growing a beard! My husband didn't mind though, LOL.
  20. EGD - esophagogastroduodenoscopy Former medical transcriptionist here. LOL. Haven't worked for two years though....had to retire due to disability (arthritis). Sitting at a desk for 20 years transcribing and then 13 more years at home at a computer makes for a lot of weight gain and ultimately contributed to the arthritis.
  21. Before I gained the weight, I used to be the one in the group of women who was ogled, whistled at..and all that. I have missed that since I have gotten older and fat....but I want to lose the weight for ME! I want to look in the mirror and say...Sharon...you look GOOD again. I want to feel comfortable in my clothes and when I sit in the car or in a small chair I don't want to look like a stuffed sausage or feel like one. I can't stand wearing a bra anymore because I can't find one I like (I have two of the $80 Ophrah bras and I hate them), one that doesn't cut me in half and push everything up to where my chin (and I only have one chin) sits on my boobs. I have always had large boobs and they are not absolutely huge now but clothes just don't feel comfy when you are fat...even with elastic waists! LOL. And...a cat call once in a while wouldn't hurt anything either!
  22. JessieBear, my FIL had heart trouble really bad and my MIL (who is 91 3/27/06) said right before he died at age 81 that he was sorry he wasn't "any good" for her anymore in that way. LOL.
  23. I am not banded yet but hope to be by late spring or early summer. Cardio for me is walking from the kitchen to the back bedroom to hang up clothes I have taken from the dryer! By the time I am through with that I have had my cardio workout!
  24. Oh how hilarious! Heeheedilly? I love that. I have always called it at coochie or coochie-cat. Havent seen mine in years...me or my husband. LOL.
